One of our members had a load of brass cogs made - I bought my mirrors from him a year ago or so - CarbonBlac

    He's in South London.

    Gears

Just seen this I do hope that it was not said that Carbonblac Had gears made from Brass, as that would be incorrect as mine are made from Hardened Steel probably better than the OEM.

Ah sorry - thought they were brass (and that the brass was tougher than standard). Was putting it out as a good thing - Hardened steel's even stronger though - apologies!

    m3 autofolding mirror repairs

    HI just read your post

I have used the kit in the Ebay link ADL ,and after fitting the kit the folding

action worked but it noisy slow and juddery one of the repair spindles has to be

modified, not a kit I would recommend I'm now going to do it all again using

better parts, the ADL parts seem to be made of a cheap alloy mix

    hope this helps

    Sideways

It seems there are 3 in total is that correct?and the ones you have are a good quality as there are lots on Ebay and I'm sure they are probably made of inferior materials.
How much are you selling yours for?

Once you have stripped the unit down and get to the motor housing check the underside for two stablizing pegs. if one is broken then this could also be a part of your problem Plus the gear on the motor may also be stripped.

I bought a kit from ebay it worked for a while but the cog that turns the main outer ring has had it.
I've stripped it cleaned it out and spun the main outer ring 180 but the teeth are well and truly worn
When i compare the parts with the oem ones the teeth are slightly out this is prob why they have worn so fast, I suppose you get what you pay for!

"I suppose you get what you pay for!" end Quote.
    This is true.
Unfortunately, all I have at the moment is the helical gear I have sent for the small gear that dresses the motor spindle to be tuned and am currently awaiting their completion.

I would like all the parts but not the motor
    3 x gears
The large circular ring with the teeth
Does that sound like all the relevant parts that could ware, would rather replace everything as to not have to do it again in a few months.
Are the gears you supply of a good quality as iy seems other cutters have bought kits on ebay and they dont last as they are of an inferior quality.

My Gears are probably better than the original they are made from hardened steel if five years have never had one back, ask anyone on here who have purchased from me
