No fella gonna have a crack at it myself
Davey Hyndman Outside Coleraine. Works for JKC BMW does a large number of M cars. Thats who I go to and advise all to go to as his work is very very good. I put a post a while back about him on this section.
Good or not mate I'm in Belfast, car needs to be sitting probably overnight so clearances can be done, not an easy commute for me, ideally need someone closer to belfast
I'm dropping mine into Auto Technic (Montgomery Road) tomorrow for an oil service & brake fluid change. I can ask if you like? I've heard they know their stuff, but can't find much about them online lately, it all seems old info...
Auto Technic are a big fat no.
They don't have the shims and said it's very time consuming and they've never known it to actually make much of a difference so don't offer it.
So far, Belfast does not appear to be the place to go if you're looking a bit of shimming action...
I wouldnt be returning to Autotechnic for various reasons. If you want someone close to Belfast that knows BMWs inside out then look no further than Jonny at AI Autosport. He's seen, serviced, welded and repaired more E46 M3s than we've had hot dinners this month. Based in Carrickfergus but easy to find and always worth the visit.
I'll second the vote for Jonny @ AI.
Likewise with Darren @ DW Autos in Ballyclare.
Two good honest guys.
Sorry mate only seeing this post now, thanks for asking for me, shame about them I heard good things about them too
Cheers will check these guys out I'm not far from both
Have had Darren do a few minor mechanical fixes for me and must say he is very easily paid and a nice chap at that
As previously mentioned...Johnny at AI or a wee bit further from Belfast but not much is Rhys Duvant at the Car Clinique in Hillsborough...hes an ex BMW mechanic and also buys and sells a good selection of BMs too.
Rhys does not have the tools for valve clearance.
Dam...never asked him before
