    Hi Guys,

My First post on here. I'm rebuilding my S65 engine and need to remove the inlet and exhaust valves. Has anyone on here done this? can anyone recommend a spring compressor that will work without damaging the tappet bores.

    Thanks

    Sounds serious?

I don't remember seeing them remove the valves but otherwise a full strip down in these videos. It's in German, but compelling viewing all the same, especially as the guy has his girlfriend doing most of the work!

Yes I have watched those videos, they were a lot of help. I decided to take it to a local head specialist. They said they will clean the head, remove valves, lap in and rebuild for £120 a head. Can't complain at that.

    Sounds like a good idea.
    Why are you rebuilding it?

I bought the engine to go into my Mercedes 190e :) it will be an EVO 1 replica with a difference! I’ve cut most of the engine bay away ready for the engine and box , lots still to do .

I decided to pull the sump and change the big ends whilst the engine was on the stand . I think a friend of mine ( mediahog) posted photos of the shells , 1 was on the verge of spinning, luckily no damage to the crank .

I noticed no to little compression on a few of the cylinders whilst turning the crank . A leak down test revealed water had got into the inlet manifold and rust had formed on some of the valves.

I pulled the heads and luckily the bores are ok. I should have it all back together next week . I also fitted a dipstick as the ECU I’m using won’t read the oil sensor .

My Instagram is Omegaman911 if you’d like to take a look .

Unless there's another crazy guy doing the same conversion I think you are using my diff. You may remember it took an age to finally arrive!
Shame the engine wasn't stored better, but glad the build is progressing :)

Yep that's me :) Yes it's a pain the engine has needed so much work but at least it should be good once finished.
