Keep the M4 mate unless you're in a position to not care if the cash goes out the bank. I seriously considered a 540c this time last year after a very big work bonus but ended up changing the M4 for my X5 owing to getting a second dog. With the way the world's going I'm glad the mrs forced that route tbh as whilst I'd have loved the McLaren I know I'd be looking to get out now (only intended to keep for a year) and kicking myself.

Depends on how you use your M4, is it a daily because a Mclaren isn't best choice as one?

I'm guessing its second or third car for weekends/events?

Can you comfortably afford it, (not saying you can't btw or being nosey), but I'd get the Mclaren any day of the week over an M4 if I could, if you are in a position to buy one I'd crack on as life is short and who knows what's round the corner these days

What a nice dilemma to have. Portifino looks like a Corvette with those lights, the California is much nicer and with the last of the naturally aspirated V8 soundtrack. If it doesn't go up in price then depreciation will be slow compared to a new McLaren.

Well just rang bmw as almost 2 weeks ago now I applied they said they asked for more info tax return or other if working they promised to ring me if they wanted any more information . They never asked me for anything in an email or tx nothing zip nowt ...I told them cancel it and forget it with all what’s going on and lockdown for 4 weeks and the m4 winning the pole I’m going keep my m4 till next year or for longer if not longer . And when if I want a McLaren il probably go for a 570S spider and add the high downforce kit when they are around £100k and just either pay out right or have a small loan on it

there you go lads I’m all clear in my head and the m4 is staying for now

The 600LT is a dream car and if you have a chance as a petrol head to own then it's a no brainer

The M4 is a nice performance car and you have enjoyed ownership but to jump up to a supercar is rare for most so if it works financially then enjoy one of the most exciting and exhilarating cars money can buy

You will be picking up cars heavily discounted next year as the true effects of this collapse begin to emerge (starting to now with housing market)
What I would be doing is thinking where to invest your money (not the stock market) into something tangible.

    Keep the M4 chap.

That’s what you want us to say because that’s what you think deep down.

My money would be on a Turbo S.

yep il get it booked in for its brake fluid change now .....
Then on autotrader a lovely 18 reg appears but no no I’m staying.
If I do decide to switch it will be March next year and I will put down what I need to get the balance to £50k and pay that over a 5 year period On hp at around £900 a month so there’s no big balloon at the end and a lot less interest then to pay . I’ve just brought a little van to satisfy my spending needs for the moment :muttley:

This, if you are a petrol head and not a M car fanboy then obviously a supercar like the mclaren is not in the same league as a m4, as lovely as it is, it ain't a supercar.

If you have the ability to do it, then do it!

To throw another spanner in the works, have you considered a r8 v10+, theyre about 100k, arguably better looking than the 600lt and the 570s, more reliable, will hold its value better and better dealer network.

ive looked at everything believe me the roof on the r8 looks odd in convertible form though . M4 stays for now the thought of just blowing £45k on the lt scares me . But the 570S spider with the downforce kit added for £50k less looks a good option for sometime next year ...
all your comments have really helped
    Thanks

always loved convertibles and 4x4 I have a 4x4 for day to day I wouldn’t even consider anything else for my second car other than a vert . As long as it’s not raining I don’t mind having the roof down no matter how cold it it
