How much is it?
Go back to the first post in this thread. M3Laith sells the cable
we did this 30 years ago, a 745 Turbo engine in a coupe.
Took it to the Zolder racing circuit just to test the beast.
Found out that the BMW works team were there for testing.
But Zolder is in Belgium and Belgians are nice and laid back people.
yes, we could take the car to the track as long as we would not bother the works team
One lap? Two laps? Oh c’mon we came from Holland so we can do at least 5 laps yes?
On the straight we’d be sitting behind the works non-turbo Coupe. Well, we were actually faster in a straight line !
It did not take long before the works team signalled us into the pit lane.
How the h***l could a normal licenced 6 series keep up with a works car down the straight
We opened the bonnet and guys from the works team were crawling all over our beast.
They complimented us on how we’d done the job.
Even offered us a set of front brakes if their works driver could go for a lap in it.
Of course we said yes.
Can you imagine, we’d bought the 6 series with a broken engine for next to nothing and the turbo engine from a wrecked 7 series for next to nothing.
As a matter of fact, we’d bought the turbo engine because it was one third of the price of a non turbo engine
how well does the cable work on windows 7? going to start having a go at changing some settings eg how windows open but just wondering how well it works on win7 or if I should setup winxp along side win7 and boot to winxp when the cable is needed? thanks
not very well if its 64bit version, best to run vmware workstation with windows xp
ok, looks like I will have to setup dual boot and boot to XP when I want to do stuff then thanks
Is this the correct cable to use on my ZCP with Ediabas Inpa DIS and GT1?
Does anyone have the cable for sale to use on my 2004 M3 (SMG)
I have a blue one for sale just like the one pictured in the post above.
Let me know via PM if u want it.
Does any of the software available work on a Mac?
I use a mac running Parallels for Windows with INPA, then Bootcamp for Windows with GT1.
I thought I saw you using a Mac when you did that coding day round mine Dave! Glad I'm not going mad after all!
I've got a Macbook Pro and would love to get a cable and the correct Software to enable me to read fault codes/reset etc. I'm not so worried about coding modules, as you have done that for me already! What do you think it will cost me?
is the BM technic cable and software any good?
You might want to have a read of this thread guys:
Take a look through the other threads in our forum section, there is plenty of good feedback on our cable and software package.
I need a cable for a 2002 E46 M3 SMG Convertible...can anyone recommend a cable for me?
Also, where can I obtain the INPA software from?
I tried the link you posted above, only to recive a notice that I did not have the correct password to access the forum??
Is it possible to do this using a wireless OBD dongle such as one that works with the BMWhat app? It should be possible to connect to a laptop using this but would it be possible to do coding through this connection? In particular, I wonder if it might be possible to use an FSC Generator program using a wireless OBD connection?
Quick comment reguarding cables, I had a cheapy ebay cable, wouldn't read the dme in my car, every other module it would read fine just not the dme. Got a vagcom cable and modded it myself, works fine!
The only difference I could see (popped them both open to have a look), the non-worker has a FT232BM chip, the worker has a FT232RL chip (this is the usb-to-serial bridge chip).
I have also found some software, eg. BMWFlash, do not support the BM chip!
So maybe worthwhile going for a cable with the RL chip if you have the choice between the two
So what is the cheapest option cable+software? Just for reading codes to get an idea of whats wrong with the car?
