On track or spirited run 9-15mpg.
On a good long run or cruising at motorway speeds or for example spin to the nurburgring and back, it can manage 32mpg without too much effort.
Averages at 25-27 though but it's not bad considering the kinda car it is.
Friend had a E36 318i before and on the same trip, he used a full tank while I used 3/4s and an E36 tank is slighty bigger too which he was quite pissed about
I got 35.5mpg on the drive back from chipwizards to the midlands, and that is in a 373bhp track M3!
After reading all of this, and trying to stick to over 25mpg for more than a week (I have failed btw) I can say that yes I think you are driving like an old man
Which is quite a hard thing to do in these!
I'm down to 23mpg, end of school hols so traffic is a little heavier and I'm now just flowing with traffic and having a few good pulls going onto A roads etc.
Thats more than decent.... much weight taken out of your car?
I dropped the m3 of to the dealer I bought it from this morning in Leicester.. got around 25’ish mpg on the run. Coventry to Leicester mainly motorway. Doing 70-80mph.
Wifey was following me there in our 17’ C250d which is my ‘daily’, on the drive back I drove, and god what a difference it is going from the m3 to a modern diesel - the c250 I thought was a nippy car but felt boring, no steering feel & easy to drive. It does have a remap pushing it to around 240bhp.
Just had an inspection 2 (and several tappets) and I'm seeing 1-2mpg better than before. Drove to munich last week and averaged 29.4 despite cruising 100mph for a long time. Used to get 27-28 on a good run.
mine averages around 24mpg overall with mixed , I drive it hardish here and there but rarley redline the car to be honest. If reset and drive like a nutter over say 10 miles its gonna be 13-16mpg.
Reset on motorway at no real regard for mpg its 28mpg..30+ if kept strict 70 with no traffic!
2004 Vert with just under 70k
