Chalk & cheese! The Vantage was bought brand new in 2007 and was nothing but trouble all the years I owned it, starting with a gearbox rebuild and a long, long list thereafter.

The E93 I bought new in 2010 and hasn’t missed a beat! Built better, better quality material all over, better handling, all in all just better.

I really struggled to see the extra 50% that the Vantage cost. Was glad to see the back of it.

    Alpine Edition E92
just recently acquired an E92 M3 Alpine Ed and I love it so far, all 400 miles of it. Came from an E46 M3, it's a logical move but still one I had to consider at great length and I have to say I'm not disappointed one bit! :drive1::halm:

Came from a 2007 Bmw 630i sport convertible which I owned from new and kept 9 years. I’ve the option to buy more modern performance cars but I turn round after a test drive see my M3 and I just can’t say goodbye to it (owned it 6 years now).

    F80 M3
Came from a F80 M3 in YMB, with an E92 335i Sport Plus as an interim car due to a long work commute, but COVID put a stop to that so it back into an M car.

I was very temped to get back into an F80/F82 but I wanted to experience the S65 so I could see what you lot are always banging on about...I think you guys might be onto something :D Previous M cars owned include an E36 M3 Evo, E46 M3 and a Z4MC.

It’s a bit special isn’t it! I think it will become as fondly remembered as the e46 M3 seems to be. People who want a genuinely involving M car will gravitate towards these older models, perhaps having a newer M car as a comfortable daily driver still with amazing performance.

Interesting, I know the new owner had issues while getting it mapped if I remember correctly. It already had a replacement engine in my ownership, the 2.5 liners split and I swapped to the stronger 2.4. Very sentimental car to me that, shame it had to go but an M3 is a whole different level, literally can't fault them.

Toyota Supra Twin Turbo, it was on the drive of a house I bought. Was sat there for 8 years and I paid £750 for it.
Here it is at the Nurburgring after I spent a little on it.

Came from a E46 m3 vert manual (Velvet Blue)

My E92 M3 Manual (Melbourne Red) is the longest I've owned a car still have it today (7 years). Also recently just purchased have a F80 M3 DCT (Monte Carlo Blue). Best of both worlds, I suppose! The E92 is my favourite, although I can see a bond being formed for this F80.

Before the F83 M3 my daily was a full sized Range Rover Autobiography and I missed that sense of occasion getting into the F83. It did however take refinement and everyday usability to another level but, in my opinion, in doing so lost an element of that something special.

I figured BMW were never going to squeeze a V8 into a 3 series again and I had heard so much about the mating of the S65 and DCT box.
It’s my daily now and despite it not being the most expensive car in the garage I still feel that sense of occasion getting into it.

I might not always run it as my daily but it could be a keeper.

Got my E90 M3 while I was still running a 2003 Mondeo TDCi.
Bought the Mondeo because it was more suited to a baby seat than my convertible E36 328i....

Prior to my E93 I owned a Subaru Impreza STI Type R for 17 years. It came to me with 26k miles on it and I sold it to a mate with 46k miles. It’s now running around 370bhp and at 1200kg is quite a bit of fun.

Keep them coming guys! 37 replies so far and 9 have come from the e46 M3 so just under 1/4 of e92 owners have come from the previous gen. (so far)

Love my e90 m3. Still miss the old 330d. Chugged like a tractor, esp on a cold morning. Great for dropping a cloud at doubled up cyclists. Sat really low as standard too. Currently in a fusion tdci as a daily too. As you can imagine cant wait for the warmer times to cone to let the e90 stretch its legs.
