    Hi Cutters,

For the last few years (yeah... I’m slow, it’s definitely a bit longer than that) I’ve been working on improving the classifieds section of the forum. Initially this is just going to be the Cars for sale section (but eventually it will also cover the regular For sale section). The classifieds sections are very busy, but finding cars (or items) of interest has meant either going through a list of threads or using the search.

    Introducing CuttersClasssifieds.co.uk
To solve this, I’ve created a new - dedicated classifieds website - to work in tandem with the forum. The new classifieds website makes proper filters available (make, model, colour etc) for being able to sift through adverts to find what you’re interested in.

Because I’ve written the new website from scratch (and it isn’t a forum plugin/extension etc), and have control over where and how images are hosted, this also means direct image uploads with drag and drop sorting is supported. I’ve also implemented postcode input which will show distances and filtering by distance.

    How will it work?
As the new classifieds site is an addition to the forum, you’re able to login using your existing forum account. This means no signing up twice or remembering a second username or password. Once logged in you can create your adverts. Once your adverts are approved, you will have the option to cross-post your advert to the forum’s Cars for sale section, directly from the new website without ever leaving it. The advert will be posted as long as you have given the new site permissions to post on your behalf and your forum account has the permissions to post within the Cars for sale section.

When your advert is posted to the forum via the new website, any updates you make to your advert on the new website will automatically made to the forum thread for your advert, keeping them synchronised.

    What’s changing now?
To put the new site through its paces, new Cars for sale ads will be posted to the forum via the new classifieds site. When the new site comes down for maintenance / bug fixes, threads will be posted in the normal way.

Threads can be edited through the forum as normal. Replies to threads can also be made as normal.

    Bug reporting
Please report them. There is a dedicated thread here where you can post any bugs/issues you come across during use. If you receive a “yellow screen of death” (you'll know what it is if you see one) - take a screenshot and post it up so I can track issues down.

This is an exciting time :)

Good news. Look forward to browsing this. As for your query @FulEnglish might be able to help. He owns/created? The Vehicle smart app which is brilliant.

    Fantastic news.

I’m excited to see it in practice, no more people putting their 2p’s in, ruining a lovely advert someone’s taken 3 hours to put together!

    :)

I used the website to list the car and it was a very simple process! Very easy, although I had to take my factory options from the bottom of the add as there were too many characters (think the limit was 4000)

Thanks for the feedback :) I'll see about bumping up the character limit, I thought 4k would be enough but perhaps not for enthusiast ads.

No, the images are for ads only although it has given me an idea.

Did you sign in using the M3 cutters sign in tag or did you just put in your details manually?
