My F82 430i is coming up to 3 years old when the manufacturers warranty ends. What are people’s thoughts on purchasing the BMW warranty and is there an alternative?

Price depends on mileage rather than age. Big jump in price over 60k.
I’ve had some hefty bills taken care of by the BMW warranty on my e90 (Actuators and thermostat/water pump was over £3k) so it was worth the £750 I paid last year.
Of course other warranties are available, the firm Quenton Wilson runs is well regarded for instance but I’d recommend staying with the BMW warranty.

Mileage is 25,000. Not sure if there a particular weakness on this model as on others. Can there be a gap in the warranty ie take one out when the mileage is higher say 40,000 or is that more expensive and not cost effective than to keep one in place. Thanks.

There’s a jump in price for a gap in the BMW warranty. If you can afford to keep it covered then it’ll likely work out in your favor. Actuators pick up around 25k IIRC.

Not to mention extended warranty helps with resale.
