Please beware of scammers operating on forums.

There have been a few complaints of users getting PM's from scammers on here requesting payment for items by moneygram or paypal gift, or any other similar payment services (western union, etc, all the unusual non-secure methods)

Also avoid using bank transfer as a payment method before having seen what youre buying, unless you know the seller personally, or are present when collecting the item!

Please do not send any money using these payment methods to anyone, unless you know and trust them 100%.

I would advise all members to fully satisfy themselves that the item offered for sale is real, and exists, before handing any monies over.

It is in the best interests of the buyer (and seller) to try and view any items for sale, in person, where possible. Where this isn't possible, it may be worth asking the seller to take fresh pics of the item for sale, with todays newspaper in the background, or for example, a picture of the item infront of their computer, with M3cutters forum page open on the screen, showing a recent thread/topic.

These days with modern electronics / mobile phones and even ipads, its easy enough to verify something a seller is advertising for sale by using video call function (facetime?)
By using this method, you can see the seller and what they are selling before handing over any money, rather than transferring money through a non refundable service to someone hidden behind a computer screen.

Hope this is good advice for all.

Also is it possible to put a restriction on new users, so that they can't post in: for sale threads, wanted threads or send PM's

A lot of forums seem to do this for security

The guy who tried to scam me had 0 posts and there is nothing stopping him from signing up to the forum with another email address/username and trying it again

or if possible get another Cutter you trust in the local area to the seller to check out the item for you. just an idea but every little helps to put a stop to the rip of merchants.

    Nice one Indy.

Also potential buyers should look into the sellers history if they have sold anything on here like myself many things and also bought many things too trusting members with no issues, great bunch of guys i deal with.

Ive had a few new members asking "ill arrange a courier to pick up whats your address"

Wouldnt entertain as only joined the day of pm so be cautious.

Got a suggestion while it won't rid scammers but could help in reducing. Any new members who register can't view/post in the wanted section until they reach a certain post count. I'd probably set it at 100 posts before there allowed any privileges which I assume there's something similar in posting a sale thread.

I think there should be a straight ban or account delete for scammers. I unfortunately had a horrible experience on here and the person deserves to have their account deleted so that he doesnt swindle anyone for their hard earned ££££'s ever again.
