    Hello

I haven’t introduced myself properly yet as I still need to work out how to upload photos of my car however I wanted to know roughly what a fair price is for a full vanos rebuild.

I was quoted £1,080 by someone and that includes the anti rattle repair kit, drilled pump disc, new beisan solenoid and for them to keep the old solenoid.

Seems a bit much, but that’s why I’m asking...

Any advice welcome. Currently getting a rattle on cold start.

    Cheers.

Thanks Tyler. I heard he’s quite hard to get hold of? Any idea on cost? Want valve clearances done too as my car has no evidence of ever having them done :(

£895. Doesn’t seem too bad. What you reckon?

Tbh it’s basically an Inspection 1 service plus a VANOS rebuild so is a good price imo.

Considering an Inspection 2 starts from £7/800.

Definitely something I will be doing later this year.

It’s basically £800ish plus valve clearance to make it £895. £700-800 for an Inspection II service is alot mate. I was quoted £650 and that’s £50-£100 more than others. I see you are in London. Give Scott’s Performance in Dartford a call for servicing. I think someone in here said they paid £550 for Inspection II. Not had my car long so I’ll probably be taking mine there if their prices are still reasonable. Cheers.

Thanks for the heads up, however I wasn’t entirely accurate in my post.

My Inspection 2 started at £650 but ended up being about £850 as extra things needed replacing.

I used BMS Surrey for the job.

Also £550 for an Inspection 2? Where? That is very suspect to me as usually Inspection 1 starts from £500.

As I stated above, Scott's Performance based in Dartford. Their prices may have gone up a little slightly on that as that price was quoted by a member on here a couple of years ago.

Whilst my coils are out for the vanos, my coils are being replaced as preventative maintenance with New Bosch ones and New NGK Laser Platinum plugs too as the last owner took it somewhere that used £3.60 plugs and they are supposed to be Performance Car specilaists as it suggests on their headed incoice lol. Hoping my car will run alot better once all the work is completed.

You guys down south get stung bad I'm having my inspection 2 done next month and my Indi has quoted me 300+. Don't expect it to be anywhere near 500 as quoted for you guys though.

EVOST in the North West he's quoted around 300 plus extra bits I might want doing but doubt I'll be anywhere near 500 like some places

Are you sure about that? Just the parts and fluids are nearly 300 GBP, even with discount. I don’t see how the job could be done properly for that price. Inspection II has a checklist that is several pages long, and it takes time / money to do it properly.
