I took delivery on Sunday.. :D (Added some more pictures)

As a bit of background I have been lucky enough to drive M3/M4 for the last 25 years. This is my 7th M3/M4 starting with the E36 evo. I am very certain why I like the M3 and it is the perfect car for me.
This has been an interesting experience and I can't tell you all how nervous I was, letting my F82 Ruby Red/Ivory M4 Comp go and switching to something that has had such negative social media reviews.
But I should not have worried....

It is amazing. Utterly amazing and, for me, meets all my requirements. To follow on from some of the points raised in other threads, it makes me grin every time I have been out in it.

It is in the body shop at the moment for a ceramic coat so only done a very few miles but.....
You can feel that this is a very quick car and significantly quicker than my outgoing one, which was no slouch. This is a much more refined ride but for me the biggest difference is the turn-in and tracking through a corner. I think a lot of this has to do with the chassis. Where as the front end of my F82 would have "danced" and "skipped" a little on a rough, tight corner; the G82 just grips and dives in with no movement at all. Just amazing... so stable and give you so much confidence. First impressions are that you can carry so much more speed through a corner, it is unbelievable.

The technology is incredible and the build quality is faultless.

And.... I think it looks stunning. There is a great article on bimmerpost about why photos don't do this car justice... it is very true...

Will get more pictures after the ceramic coating.

I thought long and hard about posting and I am sure the abuse will now ensue, but this is such a brilliant car and I am so please with it (even the looks) that I decided I don't care. :p

.... Some pictures from the detailers. They are part way through polishing and coating....

Silly question and little off topic does it have any tech like Audi do with the light technology. I love that you know when traffic lights are going to change :)

This is what I like to see, as new buyers come in and give their initial impression we get to see what its really like, one thing is certain I am sure it will be a lot better than the f8x to drive going into this new generation. Congrats on this purchase enjoy, I really like the colour too.

Firstly, thanks to all. Much appreciated.

Easy. Step 1. Go and see one in the flesh. I was poop'ing myself on my first visit. I was going to be giving up a fully individual F82 Comp (look at the Carfection review from about 3.5 years ago - thats my car) which looked the muts nuts. But all that worry disappeared when I saw it. The G82 is epic in the flesh. I get the grill arguments and comments but honestly, you won't notice it, even in a light colour.
Step 2. Drive the damn thing. I guarantee you'll be handing the sales person a check through window instead of getting out and giving back the keys (but that could also be 'cos you are stuck in the bucket seats).
But seriously it is an awesome achievement in terms of drive and handling improvement and the interior quality is fantastic.

I chickened out of the Yas leather, thought it might be a step to far for a mid-life crisis. Went with Silverstone/black. Which with the full leather has made the interior much lighter (which was the goal)

Great question. I got reprimanded by the car on Monday evening for turning that on. It has it as an option but it suggests that it is not supported in the UK. However this could be because I was stationary, switched off, sitting in my garage (alone, it was late :roflmao:)
So, yes the tech is there, amongst a load of other things, but I am still working it all out (sorry). The car comes back on Friday (ceramic coat application) so I will give it another try and let you know.

All one needs to do is either look at the cross walk signal, or the other direction's lights. Don't need tech to do it.

What are those, I think Infrared things, above the clocks? What are they for?

Still not a fan of the car but congratulations, I do like the colour though.

You are spot on. They are infrared, which is why they show up on the camera. They are for watch your head position and eyes. They make sure you don't "nod off". The car will open the windows and play music (I think) if it thinks you need waking up. It will then start to recommend you take a break etc. You can switch this feature off...

Go and see one if you can. I'd be really interested to see if it changes your opinion. I was blown away (relieved) at see the thing in person...

Well I have to say congratulations on being one of the first. Sounds like you've got the spec right (even CCB's). Not sure I could live with the colour, although I am an advocate for proper M cars being loud and in your face. I will have to drive one and see if it can pull me back towards another BMW.

Thanks for answering, that's pretty cool to be honest!

I like the tech, I like the power, I like the interior, I hate the exterior styling.

Interesting read - your thoughts absolutely echo mine after 500 miles. It feels (to my bum at least) like the claimed 510ps is a little on the conservative side!

    Great car - enjoy yours.
