When I put the key into the ignition I can hear a constant noise from front passenger door speaker, when the radio is on this sound doesn't stop and sometimes buzzing noise from radio, upon turning the car off and I remove the key I can hear a sound for about a minute then stop. Need a software re-flash? What can this be and how to resolve this?

    Many thanks

Check the amplifier for water damage.

2010 BMW 320D ED Saloon, would be E90 type?

Ideally as a newbie with no knowledge or tools, I need to take it to a car mechanic?

Tried to find youtube video with same issue, no joy.

    Thank you

if you've got an uprated stereo system it will be in left hand side of the boot underneath a felt pull out (not where the spare wheel used to go). You'll most likely need a new amp, I did (But buy a second hand one)

Currently original car stereo, a person (who said he's got over 20 years experience as an auto electrician) checked it and said I need a new stereo, so unsure? Case of changing and testing each part or quicker solution to this problem? Can you share a youtube on how to access and check amp for my car?

Did he look at the amp? What I can tell you is what you're describing is exactly what happens with a damaged amp (particularly the part where you say it continue to make a noise after turning the ignition off). It is also the case that where they are located is highly susceptible to water ingress. A second hand amp on ebay is around 90 quid and as per the above video link, its easy to change this yourself.

Here's an amp for 95 quid BMW E90 3 series AMP control module 6960925 (p) | eBay EDIT: you need to check the codes (bar code number) on your amp and the one you may buy

As everyone has said, highly likely amp damage. Even if there is no water ingress, our amps are known to get damaged from heat due to where they are located. Once u find the amp, unplug the main connector. The static should go away.

Do check which sound system you have as the amps are all different and not interchangeable.

He didn't check the amp. I'll see if I can access the amp, do I need to remove the cable from car battery before removing the cables from the amp?

The amp code (bar code), from your ebay link, which number do I follow, for example HV 6960925 or 5322...(at the bottom)?

An independent mechanic advised the software needs to be updated (reprogrammed) to fix the audio system noise coming from passenger front speaker. BMW direct advise £120 for a software update, which may not fix the issue. To run a diagnostic with BMW is about £120.

What other options do I have?

It’s either the amp or It’s haunted.
