I have a lot of small stone chips on the bonnet of my interlagos blue E92 M3. When it was last at the BMW garage i asked for a quote to sort it out. They came back with:

"To prepare & paint the bonnet & blend both of your front wings would be approximately £1928 inclusive of VAT."

Any ideas whether this could be done significantly cheaper elsewhere?

Thanks. I’ll take it to another body shop for a quote since would love to get it sorted.

I recently did my wife’s bonnet with the Chipex repair kits and was extremely impressed. It’s not invisible but certainly very good for stone chips repair. Not like the usual horrendous proud blobs you see.

Worth £40 to see what you think perhaps?

I agree. There must be so many people that just pay whatever BMW quote, whether it’s ignorance or just convenience I don’t know. Other quotes from BMW:
£1.9k to fix headlight condensation. I bought a new adaptive headlight from Cotswold BMW For about £750 and then got it fitted by a local mechanic for £140.
£760 for two front tyres. I got kwik fit mobile service to change both tyres on the BMW forecourt for under £450

I don’t mind paying a bit more for the sake of convenience but the examples above show why I have zero trust in main dealers.

Thanks I’ll take a look at that although with my DIY skills I’d probably make it look worse particularly given I have a lot of stone chips to repair (maybe 100!!)

It’s pretty idiot proof mate and actually works best for peppered areas. My wife’s bonnet was looking pretty bad being a white car but is massively improved now.

I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. YouTube it

You're right it does seem to be idiot proof so I might just be ok ;)
I'm going to order the platinum kit for £40
    Thanks
