Since I have decided to keep the M4 for the medium term I thought I would add some mods. I've bought myself the flat bottom steering wheel but realised it doesn't come with the carbon trim.

Went to go buy it and its £300! I thought that seemed a bit pricey for a small bit of carbon fibre. I've justified every other carbon purchase but this seems like serious M tax.

Anybody bought a decent aftermarket version that has a good fit and matches the standard carbon weave?

They pop up now and again in the sales section, well worth going OEM as it makes a big difference to the wheel.

Ask for a price from bmw cotswold parts on this forum, did a good price for me on the carbon gear selector and carbon/alcantara trim!

Ask Cotswold. I bought mine through them.

If you want to go aftermarket, you can try AutoID, they have it for £220.

I bought a Carbon Fibre shark fin antenna cover from them, great fitment, great service, but the weave has a small defect in it that I've only just noticed, two weeks after fitting.

I've seen four different carbon versions available:

OEM - Carbon with M Performance Logo.
Aftermarket - Carbon with M Performance Logo.
Aftermarket - All Carbon - no logos.
Aftermarket - Carbon with cutout for ///M badge to go in.

Ssdd do some genuine bmw parts and tend to be cheaper then bmw.
Not sure if they do the genuine bmw steering wheel trim though.

I didn't think anything they did was genuine tbh.

Thanks, will keep a look out for a genuine one. The cheapest I could find was £298 from Cotswold on eBay but might hit it lucky.

The wheel arrived this morning, what a beauty.

For those interested the best price I could find was £225 on ebay from a German seller. More than most paid but would rather just get it fitted at one time.

Arrived today and I have no regrets. Think it's going to look great fitted.

I went the other way because I wanted to keep the ///M logo, don't like the M performance cheap looking logo and didn't want too much carbon, so had the silver 'Y' section skinned in OEM carbon instead.
Which frigging shortcut thing do I have to copy and paste on Photoimage ffs??!!!!!!!!!:wtf:

Just post the direct link and then type before the http and then (without the spaces) after the link.

Nice one! Your new wheel looks great!

I'm hoping to change mine out soon also.
I've put a post up in the "WANTED" section for the Carbon bit.
Cotswolds quoted me £265, and I've also contacted Harry Fairbairn as recommended by 1888ray. Waiting to hear back...

Stuart.
