In a little bit of a dilemma,

1st point,
The time has come for me to start thinking about new insurance for Ruby. It seems that most are putting a write off, replacement value of about £22,500. I think that in the current market the car would sell for between £35k to £40k. Can anyone recommend a good specialist insurer? Looking for a more realistic insurance replacement value that reflects market value more closely.

Second point,
Not quite sure how the whole GAP insurance thing works on a car that is 100% owned with no finance, is it possible to do a gap insurance to cover The insurance shortfall against actual market value?

All help appreciated.

Your better off getting a valuation from a recognised organisation and use that with an insurance company that does agreed valuation policies.
I’ve found that using the in house valuation teams is pointless as they’ll not be anywhere near what you want.

BMW Car Club do recognised valuations, I assume you have to be a member though. That’s not a bad thing from my previous years as a member.

I have my E46 M3 insured with Classic Line - Its insured for £30K guaranteed Value, and approved by their Team. I have to send them pictures of the car and complete a form each year. I would imagine that the Value will be increased come renewal time given the current market. Mine is a low owner 48K Estoril Blue Coupe.

Classicline also understand the rarity of certain models, Ie CSL, CS Individuals and ACS etc.

Yeah thanks IanB, went through Adrian flux been with them a few years now and just asked for the agreed value to be increased which they have agreed too.
You just have to send in receipts of all the mods etc and pics they ask for the condition of the car and then request a value I just looked at market value of a similar car then added all My mods up and they even included paint work I’d had done and engine work as ‘restoration’ work in the value. Can’t fault them

I’m with classic line and used their team and also had to settle for 30k.
It’s actually lower than the last time I used them, and was told it was probably due wear and tear! The young girl I was talking to was unable/not allowed to put me through to the team that agree the values @ £25 a pop.

Unfortunately their team has limited knowledge of each individual vehicle, and the photos and information is irrelevant.
There’s no way I could replace mine for 30k

Hi.
Please feel free to give us a try for insurance.
We can offer a fixed agreed value on pretty much any car as long as it over 12 months old.
Regards,
Dan.
