Car now sold

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Edit - video of car added here.
Pistonheads listing here at £28.5k

Hi all, I’ve owned my 2016 340i for two years but have decided to sell it to get into an RS6.
I thought to put it up here for enthusiast interest before getting out there to the masses on auto trader! The spec is:

340i with M performance power and sound kit, m performance brakes, aero kit, Birds B3 suspension (fitted by Birds), new pilot 4s tyres, many key options inc pano roof , heated seats, pro nav, heads up display, led lights, m brakes, big screen, etc. 55k Miles full bmw service history and comp warranty still in place.

The Birds kit and pilot sport tyres really lift the chassis to the same awesome level as the M Performance Power & Sound equipped drive train (review that got me into here if interested. Having owned two m3s this drivetrain compares very well for both performance and an engaging experience.

Purchased from Vines bmw, It’s getting serviced at bmw in two weeks, had brake service in Nov at Sytner Ascot and they gave it 100pc perfect in there multi point health check. It was ceramic coated last year too.

Comes with additional full set of 18 inch bmw wheels with set of winter/snow tyres with loads of tread (see pic below for type)

It’s been an awesome car with tax and running costs that are incredibly low vs the performance it offers.

Some pics below, Ill get more up after it’s had a detail and the inside cleaned hopefully this weekend.

I’m asking for £29,500 (price set as as result of auto trader prices, the £25k trade in offered against rs6, and the spec). PM me if any genuine interest - no silly offers please I’m not in a hurry to sell this and would rather hold onto it than sell it cheap. Thanks for reading, James

Looks lovely. I have been looking for a Touring for a while but the 340i is outside my budget unfortunately. How have you found it space / practicality wise? I am assuming the RS6 is slightly bigger.

appreciate your opinion - I pitched this based on a £21k WBAC val, a £25k trade in I have on the table, and the profile of Auto trader cars - the last one maybe be full of static sales but the first two are actuals so i hope to get north of there. cheers, James

The WBAC valuation on mine was £4k below Mannheim, a competitor. WBAC certainly didn't appreciate that many buyers find these cars are defined by their spec.

A poverty spec one of these is just a 3 series estate, with the best engine. Suspension is skittish, brakes are poor and it's gloomy without the light.

But add in pano sunroof , adapt (or OEM adaptive) suspension and the bigger brakes and you've got what enthusiasts loyal to BMW, seeking practicality, crave.

They simply can't have a M, as they need five doors. There are countless Pistonheads threads on these cars ; which is where I'd be selling it ASAP.

Well optioned (or modified) cars can command a premium.

Auto, the bmw sports version - very nice
Is it a 16 plate?

16 plate - normally ID4 unless built July/August.
66 plate - ID5 (carplay can be installed)

The bottom one

ID5 which is good, you can get apple car play and also code ID6 on to it as well. Some 66 Cars don’t have the ID5 so you got lucky with that as it’s a much better system.

FWIW, I had the bottom one on my 2017 340i. I much prefer it to the one on my E92 M3 and the newer one on G21.

The best iDrive I've used.

Good lucky buyer and seller ;)

Great cars these... And it's the MPPSK.. Something that will never be repeated on modern day ICE engines.. They stopped it from 2018.
I've got a similar F31 340i with MPPSK and it's pretty epic when the valves are open.. 360hp, RWD, Tourer and quite rare, I think someone did the numbers and there's only something like 600 of these ever registered in the UK.
GLWTS. The prices of the 40i tourers have gone crazy the last year, as with pretty much all the other fast BMW tourers to be honest, they just hit the spot.
