Just done the cluster test and my car has the led. Spot on lol.

Yeah the how to threads make much more sense when your plugged into the car.

Did the mod earlier this evening, but I've yet to drive it. I see that you still have to turn DSC off completely to enable SMG speed 6.
I wish all the coding options were better understood. I've left the car type as being a coupe rather than a CSL as I understand it messes with the ABS, though possibly in a good way.
did a little test of this on the weekend. Sometimes 1st cuts the power to 2nd. with m-track on it consistently doesnt cut the power. Apart from that its still quite aggressive and doesnt really allow slide unless its the weight throw. not much power oversteer to be had apart from a wiggle really.
I just coded this into my 06-SMG. I performed the instrument cluster test first to make sure I had the M-Track light. (I did).
Took all of 5 minutes to perform using the PDF guide in the M3Forums link.
I am going to give it a test but it sounds like this should work like the DSC did in my older Z4(2003). A single press would light up the same symbol and allow for a little slip. A long press would light up the same indicator and would allow for full slip. I liked the short press mode because I felt that the full on was far to aggressive.

Bulb was in the dash so that was a result.
Takes about 5 minutes once you have got you head around the guides.

Does this work on a 2002 manual?
Yet strangely the most aggressive gear change on SMG cars can only be used with DSC fully off which lets you know how they are supposed to be driven

Just to be clear about what this mod does, and to help people understand it's impact... by enabling track mode you're telling the traction control unit that is has a passively activated LSD. Is also possible to tell it that there's an LSD with external activation, but M3s don't use that.
So, when you enable track mode you basically tell the traction control system to let the LSD do it's stuff. Without it, as soon as one wheel spins, depending on road speed, it'll either brake the wheel or back off power. With the LSD being allowed to work the engine power is only backed off when both rear wheels spin.
The most obvious effect of this is simply that engine power doesn't get reined in as soon, so the in slippery conditions in particular the car will accelerate MUCH quicker albeit with a bit of a shimmy from the back.
Made a huge difference to my E46 M3 especially in slippery conditions such as snow. I always enabled it.
On my current E92 M3 MDM mode does the same thing.
Why have an LSD and have if effectively overriden by the electronics? Makes no sense at all. Seriously if you don't enable this (or drive with DSC turned off) you might as well sell your M3 and get a normal 3 series as you're clearly not exploring its handling.
Got it enabled on both my cars, wouldn't want to drive an E46 M3 without it now.
Had it enabled over Christmas....
Sorry to ask again, but is there anyone in Manchester/Cheahire that has the ability to turn this on?
Hence my theory that secondhand LSDs are a good buy as hardly worn, unless worn out on supermarket car parks doing tight corners while parking
