    Hi all,
I’ve got a problem with my smg I’m hoping it’s not new pump time
I don’t drive the car very much anymore missis and kids stopped that,I’ve had the car about 5 years now.
I went to go out in it today unlocked it sure I heard the pump prime put it in reverse backed off the drive went to select 1st and gearbox display said 2nd and flashing and yellow cog light on dashboard came up car wouldn’t move wouldn’t rev or anything switched engine off and on a few times then it would select first yellow cog light stayed.
Been for about 5 mile drive round changing gears fine nothing felt wrong got back home and the yellow cog light has gone off.
Is my pump on the way out?
I’ve locked the car up and unlock it again now I can’t hear the pump priming anymore
    Anyone got any ideas?

Read the codes as anyone would say.

It could be as simple as the salmon relay and it's a cheap and easy fix if it is it.

Just a bit of a update on my smg problem
It got a lot worse making the car undriveable wouldn’t get out of my road
So I change the relay and problem was still there
Now I’ve just done the resistor mod and been for a 45 min drive with no problems
Well the cog light is still on and and so is the engine picture light is still on should I be expecting them to go off or does the codes need clearing?
I think mirror John was gonna read them for me but the car was off the road
And was working weekends to save for a pump hope I don’t have to now

The salmon relay was about 8 quid I think
The resistor was 26p for 10
But had to buy a soldering iron and solder and heat shrink for 18 quid
    Fingers crossed
    Cheers

From experience. The pump starts playing up intermittently. Before it goes completely. Have codes read.

    Hi,
Not sure whether you have fixed this problem or not but I had the same problem it is caused by the detention springs they are weak and over time snap which causes the smg to stop selecting gear as it should, you will find when you drive it and change gear it will flash if you let your foot off the accelerator and give it I few seconds it will engage but it will get worse.
I know as I had the same problem changed the salmon relay but still persisted.
I got all mine changed and while I was at it had a new clutch and prop shaft coupling then had the box reprogrammed.
The old springs were in bits when they took them out.
Hope this helps if you haven’t sorted it already.
