Following on from my previous post "Adrian Flux - waste of time" I've just contacted Sky Insurance who required a tracker but couldn't come close to my renewal quote from Direct Line even with a tracker. They didn't actually give me a figure for the quote.

I asked what it is that's bumping the premiums up and was told it was literally the value of the car. I'd estimated the value to be £50k so I guess this means Sky are unable to insure cars of this value or higher. Like AF, this is wasting forum members time. Their advert should state they can only offer competitive insurance on vehicles valued under £50k or whatever their limit is. That's another 20 minutes wasted on the phone :bh:

Comes down to location and how many times insurance companies have had fraudulent claims. We have to pay for their mistakes, if you live in that area. At the same time they increase the premiums every year. Its a win win scenario for insurance companies.
They are completely above the law. If they wanted to go bomb iraq, they can make up an excuse and do it, but someone else already beat them to it. lol

Sorry to hear you were unable to obtain a quote from us.

We do not display our criteria because it can change, and potentially change frequently. And each risk is judged on its own merit. Also, we can insure cars worth £50k. In fact, we do not have an upper value limit.

I'm also disappointed that the call took 20 minutes. Typically, we provide quotes and advice far, far quicker than that.

Please PM your name and postcode so I can investigate and provide an update.

    Cheers,

    Alex

Chris Knott are also unable to get below £1k. It's weird as the so called "performance car insurance specialists" are the ones struggling with this. It's almost like you have to be young and have a heavily modded car for them to give you a descent quote.

It should be based on how many years you have been driving a high performance car, and if you've had any accidents. Nothing else matters really.
