Your gears will be fine at that mileage. The boards seem to last about 6-8 years so nothing to worry about for quite a while.

I’ve still got a couple of these coil pullers left if you need to do your plugs again.

Is this something to look out for as i'm going to view a 2012 20,000 mile m3 tomorrow (although approved used, more the boards than the gears).

Approved used means other than inconvenience you are covered free of charge.

Mine is currently in my local dealers, having bank 1 actuator replaced, 2009 model with a mileage of 67k. My cars symptoms just happened suddenly on a downshift, I pulled over turned the engine off and it cleared itself, however I scanned the car and the code was still present. I booked it in straight away, luckily my car was due in anyway as I have a vehicle check service, brake fluid change and the recalls being done.

If I was out of warranty though this would not be an issue that puts me off the car at all, there is a permanent fix for this issue for not unreasonable money. I wish BMW would just use rebuild.org.uk as it would cost them half the money and BOTH throttle actuators would be replaced with superior units. I fully expect my other throttle actuator to fail in the next few months (will still be under warranty) I just hope it happens when I am not turfing through Wales or The Highlands on a road trip. The reduced power is no joke, feels like the car has about 25bhp.

    Throttle actuators

I haven't posted on here for a while. But had my actuators changed and fitted with rebuilds from rebuild.org. Ben swapped them over in 20 minutes, bmw booking time is 3.5 hours. Long story short, problem solved, like having a new car again! Credit where its due. No sexual favours have been traded for this post.

Had my Actuators replaced by Jason and Ben this morning. An excellent, fast service. As my originals failed whilst in Spain, Jason even offered to send some over to where I was staying. Highly recommend them if you have this issue with your car.

I have dash warning of "Engine fault! Reduced Power" and car goes into limp mode, which comes intermittently, but without the other 4 x warnings as given in post 1 of this thread. Is this still likely to be throttle actuators? Presumably the codes 'store', so if I got a diagnostic on the car when the warning is not present it would still have a record of what the problem was? My car is on 36k. Thanks

U usually get the limp home, reduced power, abs failure mate.
A diagnostic machine should show the faults, previous and present.

Iv had throttle body actuator faults before. Changed both tba's out.
Bearing in mind, my diagnostic shown them as throttle idle valve.

    15kmiles later. Same faults again.
This time it was actually the throttle idle valve.

I was around the £850 mark for each of the tba's. And around £450 for the throttle idle valve.

Seriously.. anybody with an E9x, if you're thinking you might need to do the Acks, just do it.... I couldn't believe how out of tune the two banks were. Totally transformed the car. So much smoother, and way more responsive.
Oh, and do both acks not just one. Rebuild.org.uk

I'm seriously looking at a E92 M3, its 63k miles a manual and had rod bearings done as a precaution, i don't think the actuator's have been done, i might just get them done and be done with it. Its a part that's when not if.
