Might have to pop over and have a look if thats ok? Be intresting to see.
No problem, but must warn you once I start talking **** about cars I generally don't stop
Nice one will drop you a pm when plan on popping over bit manic with work at the minute.
Excuse the **** website, I build engines better then I make wordpress sites.
What gearbox you using in the e36 with n55? I was seriously tempted by this engine choice and still am! Or is it a case of just getting a prop made to suit
Haven't got a box yet, not got that far, I'm still collecting bits to do this.
Are the pics the evo 5 or 4 rs of randalls?
haha, yeah as you can see his ass sitting in there...
Yeah i sold him my old 4 rs shell and diff
Yeah turned out well in the end I think, but he sold the car I did the cage in.?
How about a DCT?
Apparently these guys do a standalone DCT controller.
I've been chatting with this guy and he seems legit. It does seem like its going to be a nightmare to map the gear changes though as basically every engine load needs to be pre determined for every gear at every rpm to make it change smoothly....
Manual gearbox or why bother lol I like to drive my cars, not be driven
Side thought, surely it cant be that sensitive otherwise the guys that charge the e9x dct would have never ending issues? unlesi ts a specific issue wih this conversion?
I think the issue is that the ECU this guy is using is pretty basic and uses an alpha n style of tune (pre determined parameters) unlike the standard BMW ecu which is very intuitive but apparently unhackable so far....
You can buy a system with a Syvec S6Plus ecu which is way more user friendly but the whole conversion adds up very quickly....
well for a turn of the books, M55 sold.. M2 Competition with S55 ordered.. feck it
As in a whole car or just the engine for the conversion?
Whole car, I sat down and worked out what I was about to spend on this conversion and decided I could have nearly 2 years motoring right now in a new m2 competition, so decided to go that route as I'm rushed off my feet at work anyways so kinda makes sense.
Congratulations what colour did you get it in?
Why would this n55 swap be any different to any other engine swap? i dont know much about the engines even thugh the mrs has a m135i, but surely if you got a manual you could run it on standalone managment and make the wiring loom to suit.
The engines are ridiculously pokey in a 1 series i think it would be a great engine swap option for the E36. someone must have done it somewhere and have some info if it fits etc.
