I lurk a lot on here but rarely post as i don't own an m3 but saw this section and decided to share my build

It's copied off babybmw, started it last may with the intention of using standard management and keep it full interior but plans have changed and I've been held up a bit but here's where i'm up to

Thought i'd start a thread about my car so here it is

I've come from a long line of vauxhall, mainly vectra's, from C20let conversions,z20let's, v6 conversion and lastly VXR's which are a very under estimated car. I had a vector vxr track car but was costing me too much and the direction it was going it was becoming a full on touring car so ended up braking it

The spec was immense, race technology dash, DTA S80, compomotives, k-sports the list goes on

After breaking i found myself without a car. I was out at the ring and drove my friends mapped 135i and i loved it!!! I didn't want another turbo'd car so set my heart on a 130i.

After the ring trip my plan was to search for a late-ish 130i. I then decided it probably wasn't best as i wanted to track it and take it ring so ended up going for a cheap well specced one instead and bought this

Quickly got rid of the 19's and fitted Nankang NS2r's and BC coilers

Took it to my mates for a good clean

Then back out to the ring!!!

I didn't really touch the car for a while after that (last September) until recently i was reading up on rear diff's. I'd seen a few people had fitted the M3 diff and decided to give it a go. Quick search on ebay came up with a complete rear end off a E92 up in North for £500!! Asked my boss if i could take my work van up to collect it and in a heartbeat i went up and collected it

When i got it back i had a quick search and there was a complete front subframe from a E93 M3. so a quick jump in the van again and i went and got it.

Checked my new wheels went over the brakes.

I then booked a couple days off work and borrowed the ramps next door to my work and got on with fitting it. I knew the rear bolted up but wasn't sure exactly was involved. Ended up being pretty straight forward, although i had to buy M3 coilers as i the shock never fitted the front hub.

    Custom propshaft

Fitted and alloy radiator and BMWP strut brace while the car was off the road

And this is how the car sits at the moment

This is where the car is at the moment, off to the ring next month and again in september and once back it should be getting stripped and caged. Comments welcome

Thanks for the comment's. The front arches have been rolled a touch although they touch very slightly every now and then depending on what i'm doing.

I'm booked on a track day at brands next week so will see how it all is.

    Testing the rear diff :D

I got hold of the most un loved M3 cab last week with the intention of breaking it and keeping the engine and box then selling on what i can to gain money back. Unfortunaly everything is either tatty, broken or doesn't work so struggling to get money back but i have the engine and box!!! I need to get a daily car in the next few months then it will be hopefully going in :D

    Time for an update

I went out to the ring and after all the M3 parts that have gone onto the car it was a joy out there. I done around 12 laps and in total was passed by 4 cars. It was out doubt the best ring trip I've had!!!

    Couple of pictures

Had a lap with this stripped Mini cooper s. Very very quick car and driver. Poor angle but worth a watch

I got back from the ring last monday, spent a week away then drove back home. Some night i took the car down to the garage and decided i want to fit the S54!

last drive of the N52, sad times

    engine out

Mated the S54 to the 130i's gearbox

    Trial fitted

I was worried the manifolds would catch the steering column but have plenty of room

Have to cut away some of the subframe, will get it strengthened later on, also using a V8 m3 mount. Will get the area reinforced at the same time. Will be getting some mounts fabricated this week hopefully

While i had time the dash was removed to get access to wiring and also remove the heater unit and other unrelated bits

Have 3 months to get the conversion done and back out to the ring, fingers crossed

    Thanks for the comments.

Been doing more stitch welding. So nothing exciting to report. Just a quick pic of the new wheels[emoji4][emoji4]

They are m3 foment so arch work required but I've got more width so I'm happy

    time for some updates

I've had the long tedious task of stich welding, cleaning, plating, primering and painting the interior. Ive done it all with cans as it only a track car so i'm not overly bothered about the perfection of it but its atcually come out quite well

Im just going to upload pics in no particular order

got on with making mounts, firstly i made the plates and then made up a frame to make the mount inside. I had invaluable help with the construction with the mounts from my friend i share my unit with. If anyone needs fabrication work done in south east london/medway area then he's your man

    Hello Lee
Welcome to the forum! I remember when you started the 4x4 project with vectra b. I've bought some parts from you when I had my vectra b... It was a long time ago now.
    Loving the new project!
