    Hi chaps,

    I’m after a ceramic date submariner- 116610LN I believe.

Obviously I know it is very difficult but I would love to buy at list. Does anyone have any hints or tips or even a contact who may be able to advise the best way to go about this?

I have been told that unless you have bought before the chances of you securing one via being on a list is next to nil. This would be my first Rolex so no previous purchases to help me out on that front.

A friend of mine recently became very lucky and got one via Goldsmiths having been put on the ‘registration of interest list’ 4 months earlier. He had bought from them before all be it women’s bracelet etc.

I am based in Kent Southeast England.

    Thanks!

Try Watchfinder, great to deal with.

This will be you major issue. Nowhere in Kent, Essex, London or Sussex, basically anywhere you’d realistically travel to, will put you on a list.

Watchfinder basically dictate the UK grey market price as they’re so big now.

Hackett Watches are very good or try Chrono24.

Echo the previous posts, you will be very fortunate if you can find an AD to sell you one at retail. Especially with no previous purchases.
My AD told me that he will not entertain anyone from outside Glasgow, and that previous custom is preferred. I have been waiting nearly a year for a GMT and I live 300m from the dealer and bought my Seadweller from him 5 years ago.
Couple this with the fact Rolex are more interested in selling their precious metal variants as they make more money, so haven’t upped the SS Production to meet demand. Which in turn has sent the used market crazy.
No way I’m paying £17,500 for a watch that retails at £7,150, and frankly anyone that does is insane. You could get a real nice AP for that money.

This. I paid list for my GMT and at the time people were putting maybe a grand or so on. They’re not worth more than that. There are way better watches out there!

I just got a new 116610LN a couple of weeks ago, luckily i have bought quite a bit from the AD in the past and so they where happy to put me straight on their list even though they said it was closed. It took about 2 months to get it in the end.
When i was collecting it he told me that rolex have access to the waiting lists and they take a very dim view on people with their names on multiple lists with different AD’s so that puts them further down the list. So if you do get onto a list and a chance comes up elsewhere id advise against putting your name on it, although logically you’d think you’d get one quicker, according to my AD you definitely wont (dont know how true that is though, but have no reason to doubt him as i was collecting my watch at the time) AD also told me the waiting lists are not in numerical order. They pick who gets what as and when stock arrives so in order to get one pretty quick i think you will need a mate who is fairly in with an AD or an AD you’ve bought a fair bit from in the past, doesn't have to be rolex products (well it wasn’t in my case anyway)

What a laugh rolex are having, getting folk to jump through hoops for some over priced jewellery, and then making them grateful for the privilege :muttley:

They are, if you want to pay twice the market value for your watch.
