Few photos from my trip up to Orkney. Will try and post more whilst I am here.

Wife’s family live here so we usually come up each year. We normally get the boat up from Aberdeen. A bit of forward planning this time so genius move to book wife and son on the plane. This allowed me to drive 220 miles how I wanted with no distractions!!

Route was Aberdeen to Inverness, then up to Thurso. About 80 or so miles of NC500 (reverse route)

Had a brilliant drive in sport plus for good chunks of the way. Very engaging, haha

Lol. Driven past it so many times in the past, never took the time to stop.

Great excuse to stop for a photo!

Suggest you come back down the proper way from Inverness... via Grantown-on-Spey, Lecht, Ballater as that is one amazing road!

Loving the colour. A gentleman where I live owns the same spec and it looks the businesses whenever I see it coming the other way! Definitely a head turner.

Briliant. I am tempted to do a road trip to Scotland this year. I can say if you are in central England then Wales is great. The roads to elan valley in Wales are incredible and the closest to German countryside I have seen in UK.

Enjoy these roads while you can before the state intervenes and kills enjoyment and dials out risk in living and enjoying exhileration.

East coast up there is quite good for keeping up a gentle pace. Sweeping roads, light traffic, missing plod, what more do you need. Scenery is less exciting but when you’re concentrating on staying out of the sea/fields/sheep then you’re not looking.
I need to take the car up “home” but as I live in the south east, the ballache of getting to the highlands doesn’t feel worth it.

Love Inverness. Go every year but only to play golf, couldn’t visit Dornoch without my clubs. We usually fly but have always dreamed of taking my car and clubs and just wandering from course to course.
