    Hi guys,

    We just had an E46 M3 in with us for Inspection 2 Service which had our Subframe Repair (car No.2) back in 2011 (using VAC plates before we designed our Redish plates)

    After 5 years and 60,000 miles of driving we thought it would be good to show a video of how it's holding up:

    Great to see that it is still going strong after 5 years and 60k miles. But if it is still perfect, why the requirement to make it more extensive, and I assume more costly? Or is it that a better but lower cost solution was found?

    While the older method lasts a long time, The newer and more expensive way will last even longer most likely.

    Good to see James. Have you seen any issues with cars that have previously had a foam /resin repair?

    That's right, we're always looking at ways to improve the repair for longevity reasons. If there's something new we find, or just a newer product or technique that we come across, we test that process on a range of E46 M's and non M's we own to make our repair & reinforcement method as long lasting as we can.

    Hi Joe,

    The only issue we've seen with resin is some BMW dealers using the wrong type (expanding foam rather than structural resin), or adding it in the wrong location (upper 25mm waste cavity rather than the lower threaded receiver cavity).
    Having said that, they still have perfect Rear Axle Carrier Panels with zero sign of movement/flex/crack.

    Haha, they genuinely used expanding foam?
    I bought my car from mprove and it had there resin fix so will hopefully be ok for a long time. Any issues in the future and you will certainly get my call. Any comments on the "vincebar" bracing method?

    Unfortunately yes, but it's only 4 vehicles we've seen in all these years with 'expanding foam', so compared to the number of BMW repaired cars it's an extremely low number/percentage.

    I remember Mprove. Matt is a very nice guy and extremely knowledgeable so I'm sure you'll be fine.

    Yeah Vince's bar is a very good idea. It's similar take on our way of connecting the Rear Threaded Receivers to a more solid member bar spread across the Chassis Legs that we started doing in 2013 for FI cars, Track Cars, and anyone who wants a bit of extra support back there:

    However, back in 2013 ours didn't 'bolt through', but we have since done that.
    To cut a long story short, yes the addition of any supporting member to help dissipate the loading and unloading which the sheet metal sees is a good thing.
