    That I would say is quite overpriced- It's a nice example with good mileage but still a pretty early car.

    Value's always a difficult one. I bought mine at a good price and have spent nearly £5000 over the last year getting it near-perfect.

    Whilst you don't ever tend to get back money spent on cars, I'd like to think that it's worth more now than when I bought it. If I do need to sell up, the fact that every common fault has been attended to and so much of the car is fresh will make it worth a premium- But only to an enthusiast!

    Just been looking on piston heads as a mate of mine is interested in getting an e36 M3 Evo coupe and I must say I am pretty shocked. The first decent motor I can find with under 100k miles was sold for 8.5k!!

    All of the rest I can see are either saloons, 3L or verts!

    It's a very desirable spec with low miles so should give a realistic value of very good models...

    I just looked at that car....

    Looks good, but...
    The alloys are non evo,
    The Aircon is non evo.....
    Is this normal of the early evos?:confused:

    All i ever see is convertibles. The M3 is such a desirable track day car at the moment it has completely dried the market out.

    Good for those with a decent example though :muttley:

    Yes that spec is normal for early evo's.

    Tell me about it Maz. I swear I could have sold my car 5x over at a premium by now but it's just too good on track!

    Is the green one a genuine, LHD GT?? ( as in the one with the engine upgrades, rather than the 'GT-optik' that we got in the UK??)........

    Either way, theyd have to be actual factory fresh mint to demand those figures, surely?!

    Sorry to bump an old thread but following up on the sort of info here is exactly what I'm after. I was looking at M3s last year with a mate who was in the market then, he picked up one for shy of £3k, granted it wasn't the best conditioned one & he bought it purely as a bit of a fun daily. Averages for the cleaner ones were £4k-£5k then if I remember right.

    Now shopping for a nice clean one myself, it was therefore a bit of a shock to now find that private sellers are after around £6k, while garages are wanting upwards of £8k!

    So now that we're in 2014 what is the general opinion on prices of E36 M3s? Has the time come, maybe a bit earlier than expected, where decent examples of these cars will start to steadily appreciate?

    I'm leaning towards an evo, ultimately not fussed by colour (though not a fan of green) but if I did have the choice it would be dakar yellow. Again with dakar being like marmite will I have to factor this in to what looks like an increasing budget?

    How times change. I think it ks clear to see now the E36 is on the rise throughtout the //M range. Well deserved too, they are great cars

    The Jersey car? Did it actually sell??

    From what I have heard, that car was a museum piece.

    Just read the thread. Only circa two years ago a 50k mile car would be £5500? Now would £10k buy it? Would you say they have doubled in price since 2013? I seen one local to me sell in May for £10k with 90k miles on it. It was clean but not immaculate.

    Ok..£10k for a modern car you can use everyday, do long distances and has style and reliability.
    Depreciation proof if you look after it compared to a new BMW.
    Even if you lose 2k after two years ... Not a big problem for the quality of car and capability you are buying

    Get a late e36 coupe manual and it's better than money in the bank

    E36 M3s will only go the way of E30 M3s (and don't forget that nearly all E30 M3s were personal imports)

    They are now few and far between. Howmanyleft.com demonstrates this.

    This year a lot have sold at over 10K
