I can't take my eyes of this
just googled what these are. Think I might have asked you before but couldn’t remember.. very interesting tech on those brakes. How do you find them? What are the pro’s and cons?
Pros- calipers still look brand new 3k miles later without a spec of dirt on them! Discs look new and seemingly zero brake dust makes keeping the wheels and car so much more pleasurable. Wouldn’t say Ive noticed any cons really apart from the 2.5k option cost ( I wanted the 21 inch mission-E wheels and these were a forced option with the wheels so over 5k for the wheel/ brake option, but the bigger callipers are better to look at. Wouldn’t of had white but no real other options ( only other option black but this was £800 more so a non starter!).
Sometimes the brake feel a bit soft at first but I think this is the regen braking kicking in first, not really an issue with the brakes as such, more an ev thing.
As a 996 afficionado, I feel the same!
I've got a hi-res version as a background on my ultrawide monitor and I sometimes just stare at the lines. I know, sad.
911 X Z3M
You own an e46 M3 too? How do they compare?
Both great cars, had the e46 5 years, 996 less than a year. I use the m3 as my daily as it has smg and is nice around town. 996 is manual and I like to take that out on days off. Both similar performance, m3 feels more torque, more power low down. 996 feels quite special and has that sports car rumble, 996 is a c2 and feels lighter. On a good b road the 996 sports chassis is amazing and the m3 would struggle to match it in the bends. 996 got a reaction from neighbours, "nice car" and appreciation from quite a few females who seem to like the slender looks compared to the beefier m3. I was chasing a hulk Green focus Rs Mk2 but my wife was not entertaining one of them whereas the 996 got a big thumbs up .
That GT2 though....
...and here is a view from the driving seat
...and a crazier night time run. Needed headlights that could bend around corners!
RS looks lovely, Portimao is on my list of tracks to get to one day. Are you UK based? Did you drive down? Or transport the car and meet it there.
Yes UK based. The cars were transported down there and met up in region. Unfortunately it is a fair distance. A friend did drive down though that was a separate road trip in itself!
Wee run north for a mini break, took the long route of course!
That looks lovely. Like the 996 RS front bumper too
