    Hi Eoin

I think you're still going to need more than the friction modifier that is in the oil. LSD oils have a standard dose of modifier, but the M diffs need a drop more.

Thanks, order places. a shame you don't have the Castrol engine oil in stock though.

    Hi Eoin

It needs an ATF fluid and the best options are the Red Line D4 or Fuchs ATF5005, although the others are fine as cheaper alternatives.

    Hi Tim

Just got a 2015 f80 M3. Looking to get a litre top up bottle of whatever bmw routinely use at service for the car just to carry around in case. I am reliably informed it is shell helix ultra 5w-30 but then Castrol recommends 0-40?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks Tim.

My main concern was as it's only for top ups (I have a service pack) so if I have 6L of Shell 5w-30 in it at present, would it matter if I added 0.5L of castrol 0-40?

    Thanks

    Hi

They will mix fine, pretty much all oils do, it's only weird ones, like biodegradable oils that don't mix.

    Cheers

    Hello,

I'd imagine this has been asked many times, but struggling to search the thread.
What do you recommend for transmission, diff and engine?
The manual gearbox is a little bit crunchy especially when cold/low load, hoping a oil change will free up the syncomeshes

    Cheers! Oli!

    Hi

You need a 10w-60 for the engine.

    http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-662-10w-60.aspx

The Gulf Competition, Fuchs Pro S, Red Line and Millers are probably the best oils. The Fuchs Supersyn, Mobil, Shell, Castrol, Motul and Gulf Racing are the more basic choices, but still good oils.

This is ideal for the gearbox.

    http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-69413-castrol-syntrans-b-75w-fully-synthetic-car-gearbox-oil-bmw.aspx

Your diff takes a 75w-140 LSD oil and the Castrol Syntrax Limited Slip, Gulf Gear LS, Red Line 75w-140 GL5, Fuchs Sintopoid LS, Motul Gear Competition and Millers CRX NT LS are good options.

    http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-674-75w-140-gear-oils.aspx

You'll also need about half a bottle of this.

    Hi Tam

You need an oil that meets the BMW LL04 specification.

    http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-686-bmw-longlife-04.aspx

Those oils are all good options as they need to be to meet the BMW specification, so take your pick based on any price/brand preference you have, although if it burns at lot of oil, go for one of the 5w-40s.

Is it the 6 or 8 speed auto?

    The diffs need a 75w-90 GL5 oil.

    http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-673-75w-90-mtfs-manual-transmission-fluid.aspx

The Fuchs Syn 5, Millers CRX, Red Line 75w-90 GL5, Motul Gear 300 and Gulf Competition are ideal. The Fuchs Sintopoid, Castrol Syntrax Longlife, Millers TRX, Motul Motylgear, Mobil SHC and Gulf Syngear are also good choices.

We can't supply the transfer box oil.

    Regards

    Tim

It's got the 8 speed auto in it.

    Thanks
