Well my one L/H drive shaft fitted 18/02/20 the unit price charged B33.20.7.839.467 £508.34 + vat, there was a surcharge of a £101.66 +vat that was credited back on the old shaft, so I was charged by my local BMW main dealer £610.01 for that part !

When the driveshafts became available again mid-ish last year. BMW changed the parts numbers.
Left: was 33.20.7.839.467 became 33.21.7.839.465.
Right: was 33.20.7.839.468 became 33.21.7.839.466.

At the time no exchange was required, or asked for. I had a set, under the new numbers, fitted by Redish during a restoration. I later sold the old driveshafts on to a Polish lad putting an S54 into an estate E46.
Noted that the Rybrook quote is using the old numbers. Maybe they only refer to exchange shafts and the old numbers were not deleted, as I thought.
So looks as if BMW have resurrected the exchange part of the deal, unless they are running both.

Thanks great post, the Rybrook post and prices were from a post I had pulled from 2017 to demonstrate that these shafts have come down in price since both 2017 and mine fitted 2020 till now !

Ah! Thanks. OK. All is clear. Strange how both realoem and the etk catalogues are still only showing the old parts numbers.
For reference, the price for the shafts I had fitted in july 21 was £888 inc vat. And flogged the old ones (in good condition), for 300. So not a bad deal.

That’s interesting. I was quoted £550 a side by Rybrook with discount and the same from Cotswold.

Do you have a link to where you got them From?

I was buying parts for the restoration April/May last year and was ordering the bolts and reinforcement washer for the diff to driveshaft flange, when I asked about the driveshafts not being available anymore. They checked and said they were available again. I didn't buy the shafts at the time. Then the car went up to Redish June/July and eventually the question about overhauling the driveshafts came up. Told Redish that they were available again from BMW and they bought a batch of them from Dick Lovett (is that the Bristol dealer? They discounted them a bit so I decided to fit new shafts as with the price to overhaul the old ones it was worth going for the new ones. There was no exchange required at the time so sold on the old ones for 300 later. The price on the final Redish invoice (all 12 pages of it!!), was 370.83 + VAT for each shaft. So it actually works out at 890 give or take a penny. Minus 300 for the old ones. So, to make me feel a bit better, I say the shafts cost me 590. Which is less than Redish would have charged to overhaul/paint etc the old shafts. Not a bad deal, though don't know if they are supplied on exchange basis or not nowadays.
I think the 550 a side was what the BMW retail price was when Redish bought the batch, though, of course, I don't know what they actually paid.
Redish still have them up on the website for 890 a pair, though don't know if that is still valid.

Hi Fidget12 :)

Yeah still valid at £890 inc VAT for a pair with us:

We have 3 sets left.

There's currently NO exchange on these, so as Fidget says, you can sell your old units which covers some of the cost.

What was included in more than 600 to overhaul the old shafts?

New boots, maybe an inner CV, some fresh grease and paint?
