Oem driveshafts discontinued

I got myself a pair of the gsp ones from autodoc. Identical to a T...

Are the shafts solid?
I thought I’d read that some of the non OEM ones sold as M3 ones had hollow shafts where the OEM are solid…..might be wrong about that though but sure I read it on here?

Not sure at the moment. Haven't got them nearby (won't for a couple of weeks)

Where’s the chap on here who was asking a UK company to look at manufacturing new outer joints?

I run an Engineering shop in Preston, we have a number of CNC machines which I'm sure would be capable of machining these parts.
Would anyone have a sample they would be willing to send me so I can take a look at designing / prototyping and eventually machining a batch of them?

Now that's what I like to hear! Unfortunately I don't have any old oem shafts... 2nd hand they're fairly cheap on eBay though

I’ve recently had my driveshafts refurbed by Lewis at Weldtech.

New ABS rings and all painted etc. So hopefully no more rust issues.

GSP are not the manufacturer for BMW, they are made by GKN.

Not sure. That screenshot I linked wasn't my post. But they seem to fit work and ETA Motorsport were happy to fit them/didn't tell the poster they were crap. So for £170 a pair worth a shot

The gsp and ebay ones may hold up but the original manufacturer is GKN as stated earlier within this thread. GKN must be signed in deep with BMW regarding the shafts because they will not answer to anyone about the shafts regarding refurbs or anything else.

I believe bmw do get the shafts refurbished now if anyone can find who from you're on to a winner.

BMW will only sell you new shafts now and not refurbs, so they are not exchange.

I bought one from a German supplier on ebay for €150. Made in China but fit perfectly.

So a quick update.

Had the car up to swap onto the winter wheel set and the inner cv joint of my left drive shaft has play. So it lasted about 6-8 months. Not happy.

I compared it to the right side which is a genuine bmw unit and that has zero play in the joints after 2 years.

Cheap Chinese crap.

I had a N/S about 2 years ago the part was about £700 odd it was supplied and fitted by BMW , whole job around £1100 they had to drop the whole exhaust system to fit nearside !
