What i'm concerned with is, what is the situation if you test positive on the test you do out there before return, or even fail just before leaving England , then its too late to rescue any money back.
With this new variant i know personally of several folks in my circle have come down with covid in recent weeks, and iv'e had to test on two occasions already.

I's it really worth the stress and hassle this year, but then again whats to say for next year.

Its a pain isnt it. Ive already made my mind up that Im going over there soon.

I’m not booking anything until about 4 days before. Ive got everything lined up ready for pulling the trigger.

As for the test on the way back, I’ll risk it. I always have the credit card if the worst happens.

Fair do's, hope it goes well for you. Iv'e decided to pull out the trip, not risking something going wrong plus paperwork for only 4 days away.

Will save my money fingers x for normality next year and plan more trips then.
Have managed to re schedule the Spa track day for a credit next year, and canceling my hotel booking. So only gona loes my tunnel crossing...not able to extend that any further.
Will probably do a couple uk track days in Oct/nov.

A mixture of brake dust, rubber pickup and dirt!

There’s the added expense of buying laps, buying tests upon return, and having to drag the car out there and back just for a few days.

All these things combined means the cost per lap is about 5 times higher than it usually would be for me; it’s so hard to justify it.

Well Im booked and paid up now, so hopefully nothing changes too much between now and the 11th.

The paperwork is actually pretty straight forward once you have sifted through all the mis-information.

Ive spent weeks researching and constantly changing my mind with this so hopefully everything is correct now.

I'm all booked and paid up as well. We've decided to use a self swab kit for the antigen test on the way home instead of getting tested in Adenau. A few of the BTG guys have used it and say it's legit: https://www.c19testing.co.uk/rapidtravel/

I'm heading out on the 12th, what does your car look like Andy? There's going to be a group of us, if I see you I'll say hello.

Interesting, I wonder how much it costs to get tested in Adenau? I might get myself one of those kits.

My dad is coming with me and we’ll be in my Space Grey E92 M3.

We are only at the ‘ring for the Sunday afternoon & evening as we are going to do other things whilst in Germany.

Say hi if you see us!

Adenau test was €20, this kit was £29. So a bit more expensive, the upshot is that you can test yourself when you need to.

Awesome, we’re heading over early Sunday morning to get there in the afternoon for some TF. We actually have a Space Grey E92 with us as well. I’ll say hi if I see you.

Had a great day at the ring last Sunday. Loads of cars, people and great weather.

Didn’t see you Mr Reeves, but Im sure a great time was had by all.

Just got home yesterday, my car ran great and drank ALL of the fuel

It was just nice to finally get back on the continent, even if the testing / paperwork was a bit of a pain.

Sorry I missed you Andy! We got there quite late in the end and only popped up for a couple of laps right at the end of the day. I saw a couple of E9X with UK plates up there but not yours. I actually had a great time on this trip. COVID paperwork is nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. A couple of hoops to jump through but nothing major.

Euro Tunnel border police seemed very overzealous on this occasion though, which was probably the only negative of the whole trip.

We sailed from Hull - Rotterdam, got there around noon on Sunday. It was heaving and glorious weather, I really enjoyed it.

I was forced to take an additional (unneccessary) covid test at Hull docks by P&O which I suspect was just a money making scheme. It wasn’t worth arguing over, they hold all the cards in that situation. Other than that it was all easy - border control were not really bothered once we had shown the correct paperwork.

I’m interested to know in what way were the Euro Tunnel border control over zealous as the Euro Tunnel was looking to be an option for me at one point.

Cheers

I used to take the Ferry from Dover to Dunkirk but the Tunnel proved a lot quicker and more convenient. We also sometimes get earlier trains if we arrive early which is handy.

The actual passport control bit was easy. But they pulled us over for checks at both ends and conducted thorough searches of our cars and ask a few questions. It felt quite heavy-handed. I think they just did it because we were driving unusual vehicles. Perhaps they have had trouble with people driving sporty cars in the past. I'm not sure. They softened a bit once they realised we were heading to the Ring but it was a bit unpleasant being singled out. Actually taking the tunnel is quite a positive experience otherwise.

I went to the recent DN event and the paperwork and testing was pretty easy no major hassle. Went out via the Tunnel and it was all very easy and uneventful.

What a place! Haven't been for over 10 years and haven't ever done a proper track day there. The DN event was a super slick operation and pretty good value for money when compared with the same number of TF laps that I managed to get in over the two days. The car performed brilliantly and I really can't wait to get back out there in the spring.

Anyone here today?
That was literally ****ing carnage today. The whole world turned up and took turns to crash. Closed more than open, at least three ambulances and two police visits. Mental!!!

Track days are MUCH better than TF.

I'm starting to think the same, last time i was there was Aug 2019 Tf which was ok with few stoppages. But now seems especially with the awful shocking fatality "RIP" and massive media attention last week, i think track days are the only way forwards.
