So, for no apparent reason my CD autochanger now says there are no discs in. Tried taking the fuses (41 & 7) out but that doesn't seem to have done anything. Obviously taken the cartridge out, fiddled with the CD's and put them back in. Still no luck.

    Any suggestions anyone?

On a side issue has anyone replaced the multi-cd thing with an MP3 equivalent?

    Not an M3 :(
Tried disconnecting the battery for a couple of mins - for flushing the electronics? I'm sure someone suggested that on here before when having an electronics problem and afterwards it was all good.

Won't I need a code or something to get the stero back up and running? I might give it a go!

Suraj is right-discussed this earlier-similar problem with mine-the BMW garage disconnected the battery and just reconnected it and bingo it all worked-didnt need a code either for some reason. Good luck

Now under usual circumstances the taks of disconnecting your battery would be straight forward. However, as I can't actually see thing thing and I presume I'd need to disconnect positive and negative terminals then how do I go about disconnecting the battery?

All other cars I've owned would have been a 1 minute job, but noooooo, BMW has to do something different!

So its in the boot, I found it. Took it off, only the negative terminal mind, power went off, put it back on. Still says there are no discs. Maybe this is an excuse to upgrade to an MP3 player.

Hello m8, leave it off for 10 mins, this can sometimes cure it. Are all your discs copies? Try some originals, cause there is a tech bulletin about burned discs in this changer. Try cleaning the laser somehow, cleaning disc or fluid. Oh yeah...then take the side trim panel off and give it a good smack. I would anyway.:)

Later cars apparently could read MP3 discs, so maybe if you have to change the multichanger it could be a good thing.

If you're talking about iPod integration, it is possible...
