Drove Ocean’s brand new X5 30D demonstrator today (they don’t know though:D). Well impressed. Even comes with full air suspension (about time), the full leather was much better quality than my M4 and the level of tech was really advanced. Well impressed. The next generation X5M will be something special (not that the current one isn’t (Stiggs and Davey). I went out in it with 362BKR who has recently bought the last of the X5M 50D’s and he was tempted to swap immediately.

They are fabulous, arent they. Will be swapping my current model 40D for one next time around. I still stand by my statement, that if i could only have 1 car, it would be the X5, without question.

    Jay,
I may be in the minority here, but i love my X5. Its also pulled me out of the muck a time or two, in the Scottish Highlands in snow and ice, a great all rounder :)

I have no doubt mate, I've loved the X5 ever since I had one as a courtesy car that time. I still get a buzz driving the M4 and I love the attention it gets :D but I've been there and done it now. I want something big, spacious and a panoramic roof :shades: so X5 it will be next year for sure.

Air suspension was available on the x5 at least 15-20 years ago mate. I had it on a 2002 x5

I think the leather was better than both of those Jay. It had a padded section and was really soft. Full leather across the dash etc. Leather on the doors was padded and really soft. Ambient lighting in the doors, green when sat in turned red when you got out. Full digital dashboard and massive infotainment screen with hand gesture recognition. Literally wave your finger to turn the volume up. One amazing feature was when you drive into a really tight spot or down a narrow lane and have to reverse back you just push a button and the X5 reverses you out of the situation exactly the way you drove in. Spooky and will take a bit of time to trust the tech. Fook I’m talking myself into one......and I’m a Cayenne guy.

Not like this mate. Tech has moved on so much. No body roll throwing it in corners. I have to stop talking myself into one. I only had a quick spin. I would say the interior trim was close to Porsche quality.

It may look better in the flesh but I think the front end looks awful. The grills are way too big.

Looks like one of those Chinese rip-offs of an X5.

Maybe the Chinese one will look decent in turn. Inception. :D

REF air suspension : It has about 5 settings, the lower ones for low garages etc and the higher settings for crossing streams and fords in Mafair and Knightsbridge. When i returned it to the dealer it was tilting down on the passenger side ! .... then i realised M3GFY had left his wallet on the passenger seat of the car.

See I like that. De chrome it and it will look fine. New models always take a while to grow on you.

Sounds ace that. The digital dash and mood lighting was brilliant in the older gen which I had for a week as courtesy car. Sounds like this is a massive step up. I'm now excited.
