On the strength of this I’ve just looked back at the numbers. In 2003 it cost me £20k to change into the C32, with a part-ex on a CLK that I had. I kept the car 16 years, so it cost me a smidge under £105 a month by my crappy maths. The C32 sold for £9k and the C63 was £36k. So £27k to change. I’m already four years in, so a quarter of the way into my ownership, with luck

This one is a 17 plate, so pre OPF. I've had a 19 plate before and had to sell it for personal reasons. To my ears, the difference in sound is immense. There's volume and you can hear V8. With the OPF one, you could hear how much sound was getting pumped into the cabin through speakers. It was very apparent on an upshift, when sound would cut off for a split second and you could hear silence. With this one it's a night and day difference.
That’s good to know. Im hoping to get into one next year. I’ve only heard them fire up in petrol stations and there’s nothing like that guttural sound. You see heads turning from all directions.

OPFs became mandatory some time around mid-2018. the only way around it is to cut it out and then either fit deleter cables or remap the ecu. car becomes not road legal as you've removed emissions equipment. MOT doesn't test for it though and can only do a visual inspection. in my experience it's just more trouble than it's worth. especially if your car has warranty, then it's void. it's also another reason why cars sound like hoovers these days...
