Just had the brake fluid changed, MOT and new battery fitted at my local BMW. Couldn't believe the price of the new battery fitted was coppers under £260 when a friend paid more for his from an Indy. Just thought I'd give people the heads up as I know there's a lot of battery threads on here lately. I think I might keep it now as it needs nothing doing on it for a year even though since my last service 13 months ago at BMW it's only done 816 miles. I must get out more in it when covid does one.

Sounds like normal price to me? I was assuming it’s between £200-250 at Indy / Stealers

A friend paid way over £300 including coding. I just thought it was cheap lol. The only thing disappointing is the stop start works now it's got a new battery.

No AGM battery is what I'd call cheap. If you have the kit to code then you might save a few £££.

Yep the stop start can came back to life with a new battery, easily coded out to retain the dash button setting of either off or on though via Carly or the like.
Stop start on a 4 litre V8 makes as much sense as an ashtray on a motorcycle:D

£260 is a good price. I paid £302 back in November.

There is method to the madness (Engineering Explained did a great vid about stop start vs idling at the lights etc.), however, it always baffled me that they fitted the M3 with stop start, it's not what the cars about :muttley:

What's the benefit of it? Does it it improve mpg on the m3? I recently replaced my battery and the stop start came back on. Haven't coded it out as I tend not to drove in Auto that often.

What years did stop start come on the e92? Mine has never cut in once (thankfully) hadn’t even thought about it being there to be honest.

If you do have it, could be due to the battery. Mine didn't cut in for the first couple of months until I changed the dying battery.

It’s a 2012 car, however it’s always on a c-tek since it’s a bit of an occasional toy. I’m also always in the sharpest throttle mode and paddles even in town. If this has some bearing on it.

If you have it I think you should have a button, like this one (image found on Google):

It only works in auto mode. If on the paddles it doesn't kick in.
