    How are you finding the front splitter and side skirt extensions? About to buy them and remembered seeing them on a thread here.

    happy to say I’m finished with it now !


    To me regardless of price the design of the side skirts and front splitter are the best out there in my opinion . I really like the OEM splitters on all cars except white for some reason.

    The good thing about this combo is that it is designed by one manufacturer so they compliment each other perfectly in terms of the finish and the flow of the lines.As well as that you can get the set for £200 if you haggle a bit :D

    I got the skirts from Maxton Design and luckily someone replicated Maxton’s front without their silly badge in the middle .

    Hopefully after this and exhaust mod I should be done... for now anyway.

    I got a GTS style front splitter but fit was never 100% and it looks a bit thin. Managed to get the set from ksb autostyling on ebay... they even use your car to advertise the splitter.

    I just went on ebay and never realised my car was famous until you told me :cool: might send them another picture as the one they put up is all pixelated.

    I honestly think the front and side together look great and it helps the car to look lower and meaner .

    I haven't actually worked out how much it all cost me but it is probably less than you would imagine as i bought a lot of stuff off ebay and get a solid deal from my bodyshop.

    31) Audio Upgrade - This modification was probably the hardest of the lot and im still not finished to be honest . There is a significant increase in the sound quality but being an audiophile it still doesn’t sound how it should. So im looking for a specialist in London who can fine tune the frequencies and cut offs .

    My car was cursed with the tweeterless base audio so I was adamant I was going to change the audio at one point . My plan was to source the different components on ebay over time to save money and keep the old parts so I can sell the gear on in the future.

    Front - Focal KRS- 100 4” component set

    Back – OE Audio 4” coaxial Set

    Underseats – Earthquake SWS-8X 4ohm – Price in USA is half of the UK

    Wiring – whilst I was in America I got the Technic Plug & Play Harness so I can revert back to stock

    Amplification – Speakers – Audison Bit 8.9 Subwoofers – JBL GX-A604

    Wood Adaptors for the SWS 8X and Metal Adaptors for the Woofers .

    E92 E93 Audio Upgrade Focal Audison - Carbon Leather Centre console Trim Wrap

    32) Front & Rear Centre Console Wrapped in Carbon Leather Fabric

    So I posted earlier on about the Carbon Leather fabric that I used to wrap my steering wheel trim . I have always wanted to have the centre wrapped, but due to the fact it was a shabby looking leather it wasn’t that simple as you have to strip the entire thing . I had a fair bit of fabric left so showed it to my bodyshop and they stripped and wrapped the front & back for £80 . I did a decent job on the steering wheel but didn’t trust myself enough to do the centre . Im happy with the outcome as it feels like a fabric and matches the OEM carbon leather very well . I also made sure the the twills were facing at 45 degrees so they match the OEM trim .

    AG Avant Garde M359 Wheels Tyre Sizes 275 OEM

    33) Avant Garde M359 Wheels

    So the 220 M wheels look amazing and I had a hard time deciding whether I should change them over . I have always had a soft spot for BBS style wheels and love the way they look on the M3 . For a while I decided whether I should go for OEM’s or the AG’s . I could only find black OEM sets on ebay and they were triple the price of the AG M359’s . As well as this I am one of the few people who actually doesn’t like black wheels on a white car . I have had over 10 people tell me to change to black wheels but feel the details of the wheels just get lost when you black them out . Each to their own I guess .

    I was waiting for my rear tread to run out so I could finally upgrade to the MPS 4S and go up to 275/35/19 . Last week I had my MOT done and they were just above the limit so I ordered a set from Cm Wheel and had them delivered the next day . I think they really stand out in Hyper Silver and the 275 matches them perfectly as I feel they would look a bit stretched . I plan to go up to 255 on the front but they are still at 6mm after a year of ownership :confused:

    My only concern is that the E93 has always sat very low at the back and high at the front . I assume this is due to the extra weight of the support and the roof at the back but figured BMW would compensate for this with the suspension. Right now the back sits perfectly with the bigger tyre/wheel combo but it seems like it might rub with a full load of passengers . I can still fit two hands in the front which makes me think the 255 won’t rub like it has on other people’s cars .

    I kept my 12mm spacer in the rear and it looks even wider now . Due to the offset being 16mm greater on the front compared to OEM I removed the front spacer .

    You definitely should, the picture is not great. Splitter and skirt extensions arrived today so weekend job to put on. How did you attach the side skirt extensions... just drill and screw?

    Centre console trim looks great and the wheels finish off the exterior nicely.

    My best buy on ebay was a backbox with tips for 99p!

    Nice write up!

    Car looks great, lots of attention to detail, good job.

    What's the general consensus on the clutch stop?
    I've just had a new clutch fitted and don't intend on fitting one again if this prematurely wears it!

    Considering an F10 M5 gearknob next( everyone seems to rate it.

    Thought about doing the rod bearings?
    Not a mod, but it's worth doing. I'm sure it's not slipped your radar!

    So i was going to do this mod when having my tints done but after seeing a car with the high gloss i felt like the aluminium trim stood out more . As well as that it matches my wheels ! Im still on the fence on it so will see how i feel over the next few months

    The clutch stop is a great mod in my opinion . It costs £10 and takes a minute to install . I feel that you don't need to depress the clutch as much but it is still quite far from biting point . At first it was a bit weird starting the car as you have to push against the stop to reach the ignition point .

    I would definitely go for the F10 Gear Knob . It just feels so much better than stock ; it looks way better than stock ; it makes shifts slightly shorter . As well as that it gives you an excuse to change the gaiters :D . I wanted the M alcantara one but i got these M stitched ones for a 1/10th of the price .

    So when i got the car i was paranoid about the rod bearings as they can still occur on LCI cars . I didnt want to fork out money for new bearings so got a 2 year warranty with warranty wise . cost me £1700 with a £6000 repair limit . So far my power steering pump has gone which cost £1000 to fix from BMW and all i had to do was pay the £100 excess and £70 for the certain parts they dont cover.

    My plan is to get oil analysis done after my next service to look at the health of the engine . Im gutted as my car came with a 4 year service pack and my Major Service is not due for 4000 miles :(:mad:

    My car was in for some other work so i got the bodyshop to fit it . They used the self tapping screws and also used a bonding agent to make sure it stays put .

    I love the wheels but have had a small part flake off them already so am going to swap them over for a new set this weekend . Even bought some wheel sealant to help protect them .

    Thanks for posting on my thread and directing me to this build thread of yours. I have just sat down with a brew for the last half hour and had a good read through. It’s really nice to see a journal about the E93 - can’t find any others!

    The little mods you have done look superb and your attention to details is very good. So is that you done for now or is there more coming.....

    Keep the thread updated for sure, I am subscribed!!
