Been driving for 15 years and owned couple of M3s, but this is my first time ever on the track. If anyone's interested, here's my first ever track day video, info and images.

Done about 50 laps, it was fairly cold and wet. Spun in the morning. Didn't push very hard especially for my first time. The so called strict static noise test was somewhat deceiving. I couldn't rev past 3k rpm as car was cold, even though the test was suppose to be done at 4500rpm and limit was 100db. I thought they were very strict...?

Also, now I finally understand why you need bucket seats. I was literally falling out of my seat at around 50-60mph in the corners. Probably could push further with the tyres, but I couldn't keep myself seated properly!! :(

Not everyone follows the rules. Had to look out for those individuals who wants to be Lewis Hamilton.

    Anyway, thanks for looking. :)

Looks like you had a good day despite the early spin. I’ve never been to Castle Combe but it looks like a fast circuit !

Are your brakes standard? If so, how did they hold up?

How did the car hold up? Anything in particular you would change on the car for another track day in the future? :shades:

Been to castle Combe a few times this year, it’s only 20 minutes for me to get there. Also my first experience on track. First mod I did after my first day was fit a pair of pole positions, much much better. Driving position is great now. Are you local then? Is your car standard? Cheers

My local track. Always wanted to have a drive around there but fearful that my car would be too loud.

Hey, thanks. It was definitely an interesting experience. I thought such a short circuit = slow track, but apparently most people would classify this as a fast track. It certainly did feel like it.

Standard. And oh boy. I think the answer is no. I always thought the brakes were bit iffy even on road use. But at the end, my steering vibrates under hard braking by the afternoon, discs are blue and the amount of brake dust on the wheels are thicc. I think my brakes are toast??

Thing is, I wasn't even going that fast! Only car I overtook all day was the instructors and perhaps a MG or a Saxo and I think they let me by. I wasn't going THAT fast.

As above, the brakes and "wish list" better seats, but that'd be too expensive and not a mod I want to do to the car. Nothing else otherwise.

Yup local. Yeah the seat thing caught me by surprise. I thought they would hug me tight but nope, I was falling out the seat in the corners. Found it very difficult to stay seated properly and steer.

Only mods are, remus h-pipe in the middle, chunkier tyres pilot super sport, 255 and 295, GTS DCT software. Eibach springs w/ mod mounts, bump stops (EDC).

That was my worry, but I accidentally cheated by not even hitting the 4500rpm test range as the car was too cold and wouldn't rev pass 3k rpm. Not very "strict" as they claimed...

I'm rather hooked now, even though it was quite nerve wracking at first. I want to try Silverstone one day or maybe drag strips??

2.5 Back box mod with primary decat. I may get it converted back to standard next year or get an Akrapovic. Not sure. The car is more of a Ring tool at the moment but it's a shame that Combe is just up the road and I don't use it.

Yeah lucky survived everything. May have caused (or least discovered) that I have brake judder under hard braking now.

I've done CC in the dry and back there this month so expecting a wet day - I've not done a wet day yet so slightly nervous.

The first one was organised by the track itself and I found the marshalling a bit poor compared to some of the events I've been to. They don't do a blue flag which can be frustrating when people don't let you pass.

It can be fast in the dry - flat out past the pits, through Folly and then up to Avon Rise. It gets a bit scary here at 130-140 odd (if I recall) as it's a bit lumpy and the backend goes really light, but it's not so noticeable at 100-120mph.

I didn't go above 100 that day. Since it was my first time and the wet cold track.

But I agree, I didn't really see any flags and it looked like the marshalls wasn't really paying attention some of the time. Like when I see a lot of cars coming in but they still don't let cars back onto the track. Just saw them in their little huts drinking tea.

I had that too when I first started. It’s due to pad deposits on the rotor. It does clear out after a while but it’s annoying until it does. Changing to fast road/track pad would probably avoid this issue.

Thanks for the tip. Just worried that the disc might be warped? Since the disc went blue after.
