Chris it is the second generation version do you know?
My new one (Dec 2016) is "Revision 4", this follows the Part No on the "ID" plate, so could be "02", "03", or like my one "04".
Makes you wonder wtf bmw are doing to need to make 4 revisions to an exhaust.
Do you know the changes that were made? I didn't know there were different ones, mine ends with 02 with an /3 stamped differently onto the plate
As far as I can ascertain, "01" & "02"'s were the early type which were the ones that cracked (the ones without the 2 tubes welded in, north to south in each half).
All were stamped "02", then when reworked (the tubes added, Visible from outside, in the center of each half as a through hole) the "2" was etched/struck out and a "3" or later ones a "4" added.
"04"'s have additional gussets to stop certain resonant frequencies, and modification to improve internal flow. These differences can be seen if you look down tailpipes and compare.
Getting this info was like extracting teeth ! QUOTE: "there was no problem with cracking and it was purely a customer experience enhancement"
Not sure to be fair, but its not the latest version.
Do you not have a dealer receipt for another part, that could be scanned and "edited"
i have many many receipts , just not the right one
Dont really want to start doctoring things, as could get messy otherwise
Thanks for the info though, interesting.
Mine came with the car done 4k miles over two years old so BMW dismissed it out of hand, and I had the reciept. BMW are **** on anything like this they do not understand the meaning of good will or manufacturing defect.

I've got an early one with no through tubes, bought it when it was fairly new and I have put nearly 20k miles on it and luckily it still looks fine!
Anyone know anybody who can repair these?
How much is a new MPE from BMW?
Also is it a cat back?
An arm, 3 legs an a kidney.
£2500 or so I think
Its not completely cat back, fits on the x pipes about 70cm from the back of the car
Are you still running this?
Yep, had it on the car for nearly 40k miles and no problems yet
Probably I don't get it hot enough
Just MPE without any other exhaust bits?
Been chasing dealer for one for a while now but apparently there's a stop in production in Germany / EU?
I've got a primary decat as well now, since November.
Oh wow that's rubbish, lets hope these rules aren't going to apply here. I know leaving the EU means no more EU legislation here but it doesn't mean they wont implement some equally retarded laws here!
Nice sound eh with the decat + MPe? Out of all the combo's I've tried, that literally ticks all the boxes for me.
It was your YouTube vids that made me go for it in the end!
Had to get used to the raspiness a bit but it’s much better than before
