Ah Ok, yeah that seems to be one of the better methods if you are not measuring stretch. I know a guy tightened his to BMW factory settings and it let go and put a rod through the block. But there could have been other things at play aswell. My friend just used stock bolts for his S54 as he didnt see ARP available in that size, hes just gonna change them regularly. I think i might invest in the ARP tool and do it that way.
Have you used NG much for engine builds?

I'm very jealous of you having the space, time and mostly the ability to rebuild and engine like that.

    I'd love to do that.

Keep it up man, real good!!

This stuff is a cow to use, but I figure if it had it from new, it was going to be filled back up with the same silicone rubber epoxy resin again...

An update of the last couple of days...

Got the engine basically finished on Saturday night, while Drew (Drewbie) and Craig pulled the GTR P50 engine out.

I still need to do the tappet shims, as I abandoned the job since all the required shims need to be 2.50~2.60mm ones, and all the ones I have are measuring 2.67 through to 2.85. I'll be borrowing a shim kit today, so I can get all the correct ones ordered up for tomorrow...

But but but, Drew came again yesterday. The most time consuming part from swapping all the pipework, loom, and ancilliaries over to the new engine! But, as for putting it back in, it slipped back into the car in amazingly quick time! Drew has changed a lot of e36 engines, but he made this one look like childs play!

Well, the engine was in last weekend, thanks to Drewbie!!! Today though, was time for the first run. Here's a vid. Sadly though, my computer failed to upload the first time, and on second attempt managed to lose most of the title text for a lot of the slides. I'll upload again later and edit the link...

Well, not the most ideal of updates, but an update of sorts. This car is officially up for sale. The engine is just about run-in, having done about 700 miles since the build, but it's not been over 5000rpm, not been tracked, and would benefit from a little mapping. Sadly, I don't have time, as I'm vacating the country. I'm planning on taking my E36 Evo saloon with me, but everything else is up for sale. I'm planning on taking the old P50B32 motorsport engine with me, as a rainy day project, and the VAC Stroker, which I will build up next Summer hopefully to put into a track car that I'll share with Krystix (fellow Cutter, who lives in Kyoto).

If the track car doesn't sell, it'll be kept in a warehouse until I'm temporarily back in the UK in December/January. If it still doesn't sell at a later date, I might keep it and ship it, but it depends how well everything pans out...

I'll sort an advert out later...
