To a certain point yes but after following and being in front of Denso in his GT4 with special exhaust I have to say it sounded ever bit as good as the AMG I have but just different, although I'm not sure how much difference from stock cars, thing is BMW can make good sounding cars if they want, Its the quality of the sound not how loud it is and we all like different sounds.
But I sometimes think putting an aftermarket exhaust on some poor sounding cars only make them louder and drone rather than sound much better but hey that's just me.

M4 is much better with an aftermarket exhaust and the dreadful fake sound from the speakers turned off. I've got the Remus on mine and I tend to crack each window an inch so I can hear it better. It will never be a V8 but its loud and aggressive enough to suit the car.

See my post on the other thread.

Owned the following and my M4 Comp stock vs stock sounds better. The others were all stock when I first had them.

    Supra TT
    R35 GTR
    E46 M3

YouTube SPGT67 to see my Supra videos if you’re curious.

    Okay....

Stock R35 for me without the Y pipe sounds pretty dreadful, the M4 Comp stock for me sounds better.

    I will for sure.

I wouldn't put a Supra TT as sounding better than a M4 but each to their own.
I'd say E46 M3 and S55 sound to me, is on par. I like the rasp of the E46 but I like the tone/bass of the S55 at low revs in Sport.
R35 GTR, I agree, stock vs stock, S55 sounds better, to me but slap an exhaust on it and then the R35 is better.

I hated the E46 exhaust note - sounded like it was broken or lose.

the M3cs I had di have a slightly better sound though.

I slapped on a Y pipe and it was a massive improvement, but stock vs stock, M4 Comp sounds better having had both cars, the burbles and pops on over run I love, and its not OTT.
