The downside is you lose a v8.
i Don’t think I’ve ever heard someone considering doing this change before.
Would you not just supercharge the v8?
All of the above
Latest M4 engine makes more sense in a E46 M3 surely....
ok guys I should have explained better its in a e92 m3 race car and the s55 seems the way forward to make more power I cant super charge as the cars has to have bmw parts and have come out of the factory in some format
Well, that makes more sense i guess! I think physically fitting shouldnt be an issue, an e92 335i runs an n55 which is what the s55 is based on, so i imagine subframe, mounts, gearbox etc will be straight forward. Not sure on the in’s and out’s of the ecu and fuel system etc, but i think with some work, time and money its do-able.
If you are allowed to tune the engine there is a successful Dutch motorsport team that build their own S65 engines. They do a few options from 500bhp to 600bhp all in beautiful naturally aspirated form. A google search will find them.
It would make more sense to do it the other way around. E92 M3 engine in an F82 M4. Surely this has been done before?
An engine which makes less power and torque while being less efficient?
S55 been done in E90, although not sure if it's an M3.
Why not do a 2JZ? Been done before and will make reliable power probably cheaper/easier if not more.
2JZ's are pretty much bulletproof.
Yes, been done. https://www.google.com/search?q=s65...KHUXBAVQQ9QEwAnoECAkQBw#imgrc=hdaORnOV1xquHM:
Which BMW parts fit a 2JZ though ???
Oh sorry, I read his reply wrong. I missed the part where it said it has to have BMW parts.
