The downside is you lose a v8.
i Don’t think I’ve ever heard someone considering doing this change before.

Would you not just supercharge the v8?

Well, that makes more sense i guess! I think physically fitting shouldnt be an issue, an e92 335i runs an n55 which is what the s55 is based on, so i imagine subframe, mounts, gearbox etc will be straight forward. Not sure on the in’s and out’s of the ecu and fuel system etc, but i think with some work, time and money its do-able.

If you are allowed to tune the engine there is a successful Dutch motorsport team that build their own S65 engines. They do a few options from 500bhp to 600bhp all in beautiful naturally aspirated form. A google search will find them.

It would make more sense to do it the other way around. E92 M3 engine in an F82 M4. Surely this has been done before? :halm:

Why not do a 2JZ? Been done before and will make reliable power probably cheaper/easier if not more.

    2JZ's are pretty much bulletproof.

Oh sorry, I read his reply wrong. I missed the part where it said it has to have BMW parts.

    My mistake.
