What are all your thoughts on the incoming arrival from BMW?

In a world of emission regulations and pedestrian preservation inspired design, I have trouble expecting anything that interesting...

will invariably disappoint given the hallowed badge its adopting. I imagine it will be £145k base price and very heavy...but if they can take the standard car which is universally praised and make it better then could be rather special.. also guess they will make 1,916 of them to mark the foundation year of BMW. if they get a lovely silver grey exclusive colour, new buckets, exclusive wheels,no rear seats and some other special features and a build plaque and number it could be very cool. my fear is that it will be more of a "CS + " rather than a proper hardcore CSL

It’d need to be under <1500kg for the CSL nomenclature to mean anything too, and I can’t see that.

Plus an automatic gearbox seems wrong in a track focussed version.

It’ll be ace… expensive for a BMW. A little too heavy for its moniker. Have too much tech for a stripped out road racer. Purposeful but not as pretty as the E46.

Slightly less good than its Porsche equivalent. Take 3-4 years to be truly appreciated. A bit like 2003.

But it’ll still be ace.

Personally I think the smg is the best feature on the car , wouldn’t have it any other way, drive it hard it’s faultless, considering it’s twenty years old
