    Afternoon all,

I have had a notification come up this morning for a brake fluid service.

I believe the car is also due for its first MOT in February. Is it worth waiting and getting both the MOT and brake fluid service carried out at the same time at a BMW service centre...?

The car has only covered 11k miles and has run like a dream since I purchased it in August, so I am hoping all will go smoothly during its first MOT......

Does anyone know what the cost of the above will be (roughly).... ?

Thanks Conor, I don't mind paying that. I'd rather have all of these things done by BMW if possible.

As you can get a mot a month before it’s due it seems daft taking it in twice, I would ring the dealer and explain the situation and come to an agreement. I paid £90 for fluid and about £45 for mot on my last one.

Yea that's my thinking. Makes sense to tie the two in together. Just wondered what the cost would be for the fluid service.

Hopefully everything will be fine with the MOT too and £200 should cover it!

Yep £200 should easily cover it, all dealers seem to price servicing differently, like I said mine was about £90ish but that was a while ago.

Yea I have just had a look online at my local BMW dealer (Stevenage, Hertfordshire) and they have prices online at the following:

    MOT - £43
    Brake Fluid Service - £68

Just tried to call the service department but they're now closed. I shall try again Monday and get it booked in.

    Thanks guys!

Tell them to sod off £150!!!! A fluid change has NEVER been more than £90 anywhere.

You should not pay £150!!! That's absolutely ridiculous. I got mine for £50 during black Friday sale.

£50.50 brake fluid + £19.30 scope fee is what is quoted by Cotswold, but then there is a * and the small print states prices could change for models with M sport or Ceramic brakes.

That is what I thought, that with M cars it may be a little extra. Although I did put in my registration number before the prices came up I think so I am hoping that it has been taken into consideration.....

I will call Monday and see if they quote the same fees as they do online.

I am guessing they will likely have some 'advisories' on their MOT.... Rear tyres are getting a little low I think but still have 1-2k in them I reckon.

This is how much I was charged when I booked it online. Quote was higher online however, when I got my invoice, i was being charged less.

I really can't see why an M car is more expensive, it's the same brake fluid and same amount as any other 3 / 4 series.

Mine is also due (as is the MOT) but I won't be getting the MOT done at BMW as like you say, will more than likely end up with a list of advisories.

That is my concern.... I'd just like to have everything done at BMW. Hopefully it will help when I come to sell maybe...

It’s even more a piss take when the fluid is perfectly fine... but have to keep the service intervals up obviously.

Stratstone Leeds often price match MOT’s. My last couple have been £25 and no unnecessary work suggested.

I will not let BMW Mot my M4 again. They put advisories on for ALL of my tyres last year. I was on less than 10k miles so had plenty of life considering my annual mileage. Same tyres on the car now. Probably still Ok as I’m now on 13750 miles.

Yeh same reason I won't, took the car into them in October for a software update, and they tried to get me to replace all 4 tyres then, despite the lowest being 3.5mm

They had to repaint my rims as they damaged 2 of them and expected me to pay for them to paint the other 2 to match (which I refused to do) so then they said, ahh I notice your tyres are low, when are you going to change them ?

I said well with 3.5mm+ on them and the mileage I do, probably in about 18 months.
