M3 V8 Warranty renewal time...what have others done...?

    So its Warranty renewal time, have looked at changing the V8, what with a service and warranty renewal coming up, but I still like it very much.

    So I have been sent options and prices to renew and just wanted to know what others have gone for / will go for.

    IIRC, I went for the Named Component for the CSL. Doesn't the Driveline option have a limit of £5k?

    Never had the V8 long enough for the warranty to run out :thumbsup:

    Not bad prices there. Picked up my frozen silver car from a non franchises dealer and they placed 15 months warranty on it (non-bmw) but with a claim limit of £2000 per claim. If I was to get a bmw warranty it’s telling me it’s 1543 per year (without breakdown and with £100 excess). I think I’d def renew at £96 a month.

    That's correct Brian, I would not have the Driveline !!

    I was thinking fully Comp with a £100 excess, for just over £1k was about the best ....

    This might seem like a stupid question, but how exactly do you get a warranty from BMW? My car has one at the moment, but I have no paperwork/documentation so I'm not sure what is covered and to what amount.

    I wanted to try and get quote for the renewal but how exactly do you do this?:confused:

    I went for named components with £250 excess. Should have really gone comp for £100ish more.. Renewed for £720ish with breakdown cover.

    Named components seems to cover everything anyway.

    Yeah it's been great. Made use of the warranty a couple times with a throttle actuator, faulty wing mirror and a sun visor!

    Not sure I've gelled 100% with it yet. I blame it on the love/hate manual gearbox and drive by wire throttle! But it's still the only car within its price bracket to tick as many boxes as it does!

    The colour never bores me though :cool:

    In to my second year with warranty wise, so far they have paid out £3100 for an abs unit and X1 actuator, it's their gold cover and cost me £506 for 12 months.

    Mines a 2012 38000 miles £114pm fully comp £250 excess but no emergency cover. I think they’re a lot cheaper if it was AUC previously

    Fully comp with £250 excess at £762 seems best. Do you really want to bother making claims for under £250 which you can fix yourself. It also covers the repairs for up to the cars value. That’s what you’ll need if the engine goes pop.

    Last year, mine was £625 for named component with £250 excess. If I still have the car next month when renewal is due, I'll go Comprehensive with £250 excess.

    The only thing that's needed replacing this last year was a diff input seal, which wasn't covered by the warranty anyway!

    I ditched the warranty because I don't do the mileage to justify it (~5k/year). I've saved £825 I guess + if I have to do repairs the £250 on excess. So thats around £1k.
    If I think my luck is running out I could jump back into the warranty. Or maybe I'll celebrate with one when cutters reaches 10,000 threads on rod bearings.

    Agreed. Two claims a year are required to make the £100 option attractive. No idea why you'd want the zero excess unless you love spending your time at the dealers!

    I’d go named component and £250 excess for £640.

    On the basis that the only thing I’d claim for is something big (engine/shells/DCT box/mechatronic sleeve leaks/actuators), so £250 is something I’d happily pay if the worst happened.

    Paying for 0 excess or fully comp is a waste of money to me, little things I’d just sort myself, but I don’t think there are many little things that fail so I don’t see the value in that cover.

    I’ve still got until December 2018 though, so have plenty of time to not worry, but that will likely be the road I go down.
