The one in the picture is genuine BMW CSL and will cost you the best part of £6000.

Karbonius make a very very good one for less than a third of that. Look up raceparts.biz or MS Motorsports in the sponsors section.

Or for about a grand you can get the Geoff Steel airbox but the quality is not that of Karbonius.

On top of all these options you will have to have a remap as the car can no longer us an air flow meter. I would recommend avoiding alpha n maps and go for the map sensor and mss54hp Ecu conversion. Plenty of info on here.

I personally use the Geoff Steel airbox and map from forum member Paulclaude.

Yes, but even still the karb was always worth the 500 extra. Little things like the weave matching between the two halves is not always spot on and also the karb has recessed pockets where the two halves meet and the screws that secure it fasten, the GS doesnt have the recess and therefore both halves dont sit flush and possibly let dirt in. Karb is totally flush and well sealed

Basically, depending on what your after, the karb will be nearly indistinguishable from OEM and will sound as good. GS wont be as loud and is always going to be easily distinguished from OEM CSL.

Resale is another factor. Karb will not depreciate as much as GS.

That my opinion on it anyway.

Lovely engine bay by the way

    Guys I've been thinking about this too;
I know karbonius can be sorted for £1500 (posted)for the airbox from trackm3 on here but I can't work out the actual total cost of all parts needed +
    Fitting costs + remap etc.

Evolve who I rang last week quoted £3k or £3250 for smg for the lot including fitting + remap all
    In a day.
And I know there's is a top quality box

So I guess question is what is the real difference in cost fully fitted?

    thats a GSR box.

I have had previously a GSR box and if I’m honest, the induction noise was a touch louder than my current Evolve box.

If your not bothered about looks, id say go for GSR, better still if you can find a second hand one.

    just my imo.

    Thanks for the comments guys

It’s a gsr box just a sticker I had lying around from when I had evolve remap & Eventuri on the car and I thought it looked better than the red gsr sticker that box came with.
