Mine did exactly this on both sides, it seems to be a design flaw given the amount of them that are cracking. It has been replaced with a newer design under warranty. But for what they cost I think they should last the life of the car really and cant see how an exhaust can be designed poorly these days its not as if it some cheap piece of aftermarket £69 stuff from a company nobody has ever heard of its an OEM part .

No problem getting it replaced for a new one but they shouldn't be cracking

This should be in the E9x section?

It's quite a common problem but I'm sure there are many others who don't have the issue,
therefore nothing to report -> only getting the cracked stories being posted online making it seem extra bad?

Hopefully the new design will resolve this issue and good for those who bought it first hand from dealer with warranty.

Best to avoid the 2nd hand 1st version is the best advice at the moment.
Although it is possible to fix the crack so someone might get a bargain with the 1st ver or with a cracked one as the value has dropped so much now the "improved" ver is out.

it should be in the E92 section of the forum yes.

For what they cost though they should last the life of the car. I have the revised
version now hopefully it wont crack but an exhaust really should be designed properly in the first place. If they have had to redesign it then there must have been a problem on a large scale in the first place.

So, did your exhaust crack and you replaced it yourself with the new revised version or did BMW replace for you?

    Mine too has cracked badly.
