I have been vaguely looking for a replacement of my E92 that I sold recently and stumbled across this.
I don’t really want it or need it but it would be really nice to have parked next to my Corrado Vr6
A few years ago would have jumped at the opportunity.
    Lovely things
Any more Golf enthusiasts around ?

I owned a silver one a and Helios blue, both 2 door
Both 8valve which I think I preferred to the 16v

@ADL has had a few. Pretty sure he had a g60 too at one point.

I’m sure he’ll be along shortly to confirm.

I had a black 3 door 1988 8v GTi way back in the day.
    Loved it.

That does look very nice, its the right colour and has low miles but it’s a shame it doesn’t have the recaros.

It’s been a long time since I was up to speed on mk2 prices but **** me, 18k! I didn’t realise they’d got to those levels.

We’ve got a mk3 Gti in the family. Three door in dragon green (2litre 8v). My mum’s had it from new and I replaced all the suspension and ignition parts a few years ago. Think we’re about to let it go though as she also has a 130 and it's become a bit redundant now!

We also have a Mkv gti and it’s on a different level. Might be forced to sell that too once we swap back to our X5 - as it was only supposed to be temporary while we sorted our driveway (And I’m running out of car-hiding places...) - but we‘ve had it a year now and I’m starting to replace bits and bobs on it. Great little thing actually, and relatively easy to work on.

hi mate, don’t know how I missed this but yeah I’ve had a few. Never an edition 1 which were always the grail imo. That aubergine paint work is so nice. Sadly I didn’t gel with my g60 and much preferred the the 16v i sold to buy the g60... it “felt” quicker and revved higher and came in rhd. Bought and sold mine for 3.5k ish with 80k miles!!

    @JamesHirst still had a very tidy g60.

But its all the fun of the fair being LHD , such an occasion , like my E30 M3's ,always felt special even the most basic drive, I'd have another LHD like a shot !

It would make a great alternative to have alongside an M2 but I’m not sure I’d sell yours to get in to it.

As much as I like that G60, personally I’d go for a really tidy, late 16v then spend a disproportionate amount on making it go, stop and steer better. Slap on some pimping BBS, whack in some pole positions and go hammer it around some twisty roads :bow2:

I remember coming out of a MK2 GTI 16V into a Corrado G60 and the engine just felt lacking. Took it to Jabbasport and had them do their work on the supercharger, chip, exhaust etc which helped but ended up trading it for a VR6 Storm which was a more complete package for me and still one of the best cars i've owned. To be honest I much preferred the Polo G40 I had to the G60.

Owned a red Mk2 8v & Oak Green metallic 16v Golf GTis, plus VR6 Golf in dusty mauve! All great cars although the VR6 was a bit soft in the front end handling.
