I just did it myself, no point paying someone else an extra £100 to load the same software - already had an Android device (for MDH) and a bcables k+dcan lead (for INPA, NCS & Winkfp) though, so if you dont have any of that & would need to buy it, you may feel more comfortable/might be cheaper getting someone else to do it

Put Stage 2 on the 330d, 25% quicker in D/S/M with gear indicator, will probably put Stage 3 on the 335i so there is more of a change between D (25% quicker) and S/M (50% quicker) like in the M135i i just sold.

Ive just checked the XHP site and shows only stage 3 available for my car. Maybe because my car has SAT gearbox ? - Only downside with Stage 3 it increases the rev limit which im not to comfortable with.

Would it be possible to get stage 1 in 'D' and stage 3 in 'S/M' ?

Ive got the cable + Inpa etc so i could give it a go

    Thanks for the advice

XHP only controls the TCU, not the DME, so the cars rev limit is not touched.
You cant have Stage 1 D, Stage 3 S/M, but you can change certain parameters with the "custom module" if available for your car.
If you want a mid-point, Stage 2 is probably best for you perhaps?

Was this in reference to my post? Not great to be honest but reckon there may be a box issue. Generally 26-28. On a run 34

My 530i seems to be hesitant under 3k rpm (not all the time). Is this definietly an injector issue?
    Any help appreciated

I had an lci e60 525i with the N53 engine a couple years ago. HPFP went at 60k odd and wasn't cheap. Only BMW supply the revised pump and it was over 700 after the surcharge for the old pump. Symptoms were hesitation and missing under full load but the engine light would come on.

I eventually sold it because of the ZF6 autobox I just could not live with it. Would of maybe kept it if it was manual

Hi all, my first post on the forum. I’ve literally just bought a 325i and my mate saw this thread and sent it to me.

@SirDave - to your comment, which particular map are you using? Did your map include a gearbox remap as well?

    Thanks

Yea that’s the maps I have seen re the gearbox, be interested to hear what the change is like.

Thanks, I am happy with it. Bought it on Friday as my new daily replacing an old E46 318i saloon. It’s an M Sport Coupe, black with the red leather interior, 19” MV4 wheels. Sat Nav/climate control etc etc. If I could figure out how to upload a picture I would.

As per hopz message, i was using xhp stage 2 on my 330ds gearbox and the difference was literally night and day!! The shift speed improvement is good, but i really liked how much quicker the torque convertor locked up, plus a gear display was very useful. Will be uploading stage 3 to my 335i at some point im sure.

Engine map wise, a couple of people on e90post have used gareth at map-tech to release a bit more bhp from the 325i n53, i had intended to do a full 330i retrofit with the inlet manifold and oem software, but ended up being offered a 335d quite cheap, so bought that instead.

Yea I have noticed the box not being great. I drove down from Edinburgh to Surrey today in it and there were times when I wished the box would just kick down a bit quicker or not change up so quickly. Ended up using the paddles a bit to move it but it quickly wants to override and revert to D mode.

Ok thanks I’ll give map-tech a look but without the manifold I don’t think they will be releasing much extra power. No idea what the manifolds are costing? Parts and labour?

I’m not in a hurry to do it but I do think the box map would make much more of a difference to the way it drives from the sound.

Recently fitted the upgraded SAT shifter and ECU on my E60. Once I get it coded/flashed im hoping the gearbox responds well.

Put the box in ds mode. Then you have much more control on the paddles

Does anyone know of any mechanic/specialist that understands the N53 properly?

You get to about 260bhp with just a map, the inlet manifold gets you to 270 or so with a little bit more torque lower down from memory. Manifold is about £200, but finding one is the problem. Some further info is here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1393859, here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1267497 and here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1267498

Getting the XHP software on the box will make it feel like it has an extra 50bhp anyway lol.

    Whats the issue?
This website is quite literally amazing for the N53: https://bimmerprofs.com/blog/ this is also useful: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1525311
