    Hi

    Anyone in the west London area ( around Heathrow airport ) that could kindly code my led rear lights into my 2002 52 plate coupe??

    Any help would be much appreciated and obviously a drink in it for anyone that can help

    If you have a cable, laptop with inpa etc installed and a decent wifi connection when in the car, then it can be done remotely.

    It's not in inpa, from memory you need to tell the car it has LED as an option, then do something with the light module. I had to do this after using Ista-P which reset all my modules to stock and deleted my LED rear lights. Saved the useful threads in the thread I made, and hence, these two links will tell you everyting you need on how to get it done (verified by me not having warning lights on the dash for rear lights for the past year):

    Also, if I did get it working again would be happy to code it, but haven't had enough time to play around with my setup recently.

    I did this years ago (as my oem rears had moss growing inside them!) - so memory is a bit hazy on it, but I "think" there's a feature to "retrofit" them in DIS - not in INPA?

    That said... I definitely remember using NCS Expert... - there are two things to deal with -one is to cancel the rear bulb-out indicators on the dash as a result of fitting the LEDs - the other is to stop the "bulb-out" testing procedure itself - where the car sends a waivering signal to the lights to test the bulbs - which makes the LEDs seem to flicker.

    NCS Expert,

    1. Add "+LEDH" to the VO and do an FA_WRITE on both AKMB and ALSZ
    2. Perform SG_CODIEREN on the ALSZ (Program an empty FSW_PSW.MAN to module ALSZ, thus resetting it to default).

    ncs dummy or notepad and,


    WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_HI to nicht_aktiv


    re code using a profile with manipulation active

    This is the way I use to do it for BMW when I worked for them in 2004-2006

    I did a lot of these retrofits and this was the way we did it,

    Perfect, thanks for the links!

    I have a feeling it was done on my car (because there are no rear warning lights), but something was forgotten, as the mileage tamper dot is on in the instrument cluster. Apparently, all the ECU modules must be correctly coded when retrofitting.

    Does this ring a bell?

    Mileage tamper dot is there, because the mileage on the cluster does not match the mileage on the LCM.

    May have been a replacement instrument cluster, but I doubt it. The production date was the same as the car when I checked using INPA.

    Mileage on the cluster also coincides with the history of the car, so it definitely hasn't been "manipulated" either.

    The LCM might have been changed then as they can and do go faulty sometimes.

    You can get the BMWScanner cable quite cheap and software free, it’s very simple to do with this tool. There are other ways but I found that is easiest.

    Chances are if it’s an early car with LED rears someone has changed the LCM as the older ones can’t be recoded I believe? You’ll need to change mileage to match the clocks, it’s in KM so take the reading from the clocks and copy it over :)
